I'm thinking of automating all the lights in my house, based on the experience and the problems that people reported. That light control system do you recommend?
Insteon (Dual-Band), Zwave or UPB?

Are those my only option? Are those protocols or control systems?

Electrical engineer by education. Currently a system engineer. I like home automation, theaters, and blinking lights.
Someday it'll be more of an actual hobby - if my employer would ever let me go home!

I have been doing tons of research on z-wave and zigbee. I like the fact that more 3rd parties are picking up the z-wave protocol so that's the route I am heading.

I've started dipping my toes into the Z-Wave world over the last few months. My system isn't real sophisticated or complex, but it's fun.

I ended up going with the MiCasaVerde Vera3 and have been pleased. I didn't want to have a dedicated PC for this, and the Vera3 fit the bill and was fairly cheap.
