Hi we are building a new house, I currently have following items

1. Synology NAS 411
2. Denon 2112CI
3. Energy Take 5
4. Phone Power for local and international calling
5. Routers
6. Roku
7. Apple TV
8. PS3
9. Xbox
10. PC
11. 2 Foscam FI8910W
12. Logitech Harmony 1100

Builder is going to put cable, phone and electric wiring. I have to provide cat5e or cat6 for the network. He is also going to do the rough work for security system.
I am software engg and know programming in Java and little bit of Linux.

1. I want to have security system installed with video feed outside garage as well as main door.
2. Intercom system and should be able to stream music in each room too (video is optional).
3. N/w thermostat
4. Lighting and appliance control
5. Entry door automation

I looked into the products based on Insteon as well as z-wave, sonos etc. I also went through the http://www.avsforum.com/t/1488384/looking-at-intercoms forum. I need help in understanding what to use for what? If I could use some of my existing components etc or not.

Thanks
