Lighting Newb Finished Room

Okay when it comes to lighting I'm a complete newb and totally lost. Basically I am in the process of putting in a HT in my already finished garage. All drywall is up. Currently the room has 1 light switch that controls a fan & light above and half a dozen or outlets throughout the room.

What I want to do is have 4 wall sconces, rope lighting above crown molding, a few can lights all controlled via a remote. When I pause a movie I want certain light sequences to happen. Can someone point me in direction or how difficult this will be in an already finished room? It is simply installed an RF switch or having to take down the drywall?
