I'm thinking of getting an MP3 player but I want one that will also play videos/TV shows (like those one can download from Amazon, etc.). My question is, which models are the best to do this, besides iPods of course? I'd like to keep the price under $200 if at all possible (the less expensive the better). Anything 2GB or more under that price? Would it be better to wait for Black Friday/holiday prices, though?

Thanks in advance!

Anyone? Am looking to get this for Christmas...any advice from those who have iPods or other video-capable players would be appreciated.

TIA,

I-phone at 199.95 with 8gb puts you in the game with a 2yr contract other than that
would be the Touch but not with that budget.

Was thinking more along the lines of iPod (such as the Nano), Zune, Creative Zen, etc. MP3 players, not the iPhone...don't need one of those. Thanks for the input though.

Guess I'll just have to research this more, that's all. Was hoping for input from folks who already have MP3 players...ah well.

my nano, classic and iphone all work well for video...

just depends on how much you want to spend and what form factor you want...

You people are still recommending ipods? Means you haven't seen those bad boys...

Either of those will blow the socks off the iTouch, period. And i know what the Wolfson DSP sounds like (i have a Meizu M6SL), trust me, it is incredible.

That Onda VX787 looks pretty cool, even has microSD expandability!

I went for the PSP because I could switch the battery out when on a long trip, but that Onda supposedly has a 8 hr vid life...sounds too good to be true at 139 clams. Same screen size as the PSP too... Got to read up on that more, and also if that website is a reliable business. Good link so far...

MY DILEMMA: New car or PJ? New car or PJ? New car or PJ?

MP4 Nation is reliable. The site's owner (Raz) is also a member of the MyMPxPlayer forums, where we help people with their Chinese players, be they legitimate or knock-offs. He has even given players for free as prizes in various competitions held on the forums.

Most clone owners (if you don't believe it there are Onda clones too) brick their players by trying to upgrade the firmware, which should never be done on a clone since you can't find out who actually made it. At MyMPxPlayer we have a firmware database which many people found of help.

Buying a player from a known manufacturer such as Onda you get regular firmware updates that are always guaranteed to make things better not worse. For $139, and with the SDHC slot you can't go wrong. As for the running time claims, they say they dropped a 3000mAh battery in there. That will make for 8 hours of video for sure.

There are 4GB touchscreen Onda knock-offs going for as low as $50 on ebay. But on most of them the touchscreen responds poorly, the menus are ugly and they have the nasty habit of locking up sometimes. And believe me, on most brand names you pay for the name rather than what's inside, these relatively unknown Chinese companies actually make great products.

The I-Phone has a Wolfson DAC - WM875BG and with people a/b ing them
like the sound over the classic and a few others so unless you plugged
some good phones in and listened to some lossless tracks thats a bold
statement.

Read what i said here about the iphone. Posts 17 and 21. If it DOES have a Wolfson chip inside (which i doubt) it is implemented like crapola.

You haven't ever heard a Meizu, have you?

Can't say I have but a lot of others and my friends and I have come to
the conclusion when a lossless file has been played on some of the better
quality players in a blind a/b test its hard to pick your own player out of the
lineup especially if you can not see it, all of us got it wrong more than 50%
of the time.

Versus a Cowon or an Archos i doubt i could find my Meizu either. But i bet i can clearly distinguish it from any Apple devices.

Seriously, i'm by no means an Apple hater, actually i really liked the first generations of iPods. But they've gotten worse. Because of the hype and clever marketing they can make a heck of a lot more profit by selling poorer players and just keeping the nice look.

There was a model it may have been the classic that had hiss if the earphone
had a lower than 32ohm impedance not the case with the I-Phone 3g.
