I'm a little shocked that the amazon price has gone back up and stayed back up.

Yeah, I feel like I hesitated a couple of weeks ago, when it was sitting pretty. Oh well, finally jumped on it this week. Let's just hope it keeps going down. "Gimme my money!" Still can't wait to get it. Speaking of which, I ordered it on Tuesday morning, when it was out of stock, but then it switch to in stock. I still haven't even gotten a shipping date yet. Wondering if they're just collecting a bunch of orders now, while they wait for the shipment to actually arrive.

I got mine just over a month ago (april 7th) and I ordered friday got it 6 days later on thursday.
For reference.

love this tv. love it. It's odd I hardly use my dvd player since i have a lot of files in HD that I use my laptop for to output 1080.
My upconvert dvd player does do a nice job though when it's a dvd I use.

I am wondering on whether or not I should exchange this before my 30 days runs up from Amazon. It also has a stuck pixel that cannot be rubbed out so I'm tempted to call them.

I'm having the same clicking noise and got mine on Tuesday. Have you had any success calling support?

Yeah, what's up with the pricing?? Just over a week ago Electronics Expo was selling the 46 through Amazon for a price so low, I thought it must be a mistake so I called one of the several Jersey EE locations (from which my cousin recently bought a Sony LCD) and asked would they guarantee that price if I came by the store in a week or two, and they said without hesitation sure, just print out that page and bring it in. Unfortunately for me, my printer was out of ink that day so I saved the page to my hard drive. By the time I got ink, the price was back up to where it is now. I'm driving the 100 miles up there on Monday so I sincerely hope they'll accept the printout of that page from my hard drive... I'll report back after I get it home and set up. I'll be using Verizon FiOS HD (looks great on my 32" 1080i Westy LCD except for SD channels), PS3 for Blu and Tosh HD-A2 for HD DVD and SD DVDs...

I just got the 32A550. It smears on panning, but its a LCD..........sort of normal I think for LCD. Only needed the small size because of the space..........for only $70 more you can get a 42" PX80 Panasonic. It is a zillion times better.

The 32 and 37 have different specs than the 40+. I wouldn't use the 32 with lower specs as a measuring stick for the entire 550 line

Houston - if you haven't already make sure you have your dnr set off.

The only main difference is the contrast..15.000 vs 30.000.
Anyway a series should be known equally, otherwise samsung just had to rename these 32", 37" to something like 200,300 series if the performance is diferent! Size should be the only thing that changed

I was pretty decided to buy a 37"A552(EU model), but after seeying some(very few indeed) issues I just keep raising budget and searching higher lines. 6 series is definitely out of range and since I only want to buy a 37", I believe I'm still going to focus in this 5 series, and the new Panasonic Lx80f(waiting for some feedback).

EDIT: Just so everyone knows, this happens so infrequently that it does not detract from my enjoyment of this set whatsoever. I had this problem ONE time with my 40" and none at all so far with my 46". IMO, it's more of an issue with the HDMI ports than anything.

I have direct tv and a ps3 through hdmi. It has happened several times on the ps3. Now today I turned on the TV again and it happened again.

Only one weird thing so far, just got home, flipped the beauty on, and there was sound but no picture, I have the little comcast box wired w coax, (HD box coming on Thursday) I ended up power cycling the cable box and then the pic came back, any ideas?
Btw, the sound settings I found on here sound fantastic, blows away my old 32 JVC! =me

Hang on!! I have Amazon pages printed out from a week ago showing an MSRP of $2,499.99 on the LN46A550. Today the MSRP says $1,999.99!! Buy.com still says the MSRP is $2,499.99. Has it just dropped or is this a mistake somewhere? Anyone know?

And yet, that's not true, whether it should be or not. Because of the way manufacturing lines are set up, it's often not economical or practical to build the smaller panel sizes on the same line as the larger sizes (other times it is.) Sometimes identical specs in a smaller size might actually cost the same as the larger panel. Realistically they are different panels and there is more different about the picture other than twice the dynamic contrast ratio.

Sony actually tends to break up their lines by panel more than Samsung, but even they have been guilty in the past of making different quality panels at different sizes in the same model range.

Why are you yelling

i don't know why the smaller sets have 50% less contrast ratio, it would seem to imply that they have different internals. I still stand by my original statement that the performance of the 32/37 should not be inferred to the 40/46/52. As I have stated before my 46 has no smearing bluring etc...

I think you are in the wrong thread I got my 46a550 for almost a grand less than the price you have above. Maybe your looking at the 46a650?

Nope, he's right. The MSRP has been fluctuating at Amazon. Depends on what day you look.

What about panel manufacter?
Are all panels S-PVA, or the smaller sets have like AUO panel..

I'm definitely in the right thread, and I'm definitely looking at the right page on Amazon. I'm looking at the LN46A550, Samsung 46" 5 series. The 650 is like $500 more no matter where you look.

I have an Amazon web page printed out right here on my desk from several days ago showing an MSRP on this TV of $2,499.99, and one from several minutes ago from the same page showing $1,999.99. Remember, I'm talking MSRP here, not actual selling prices, which we can't discuss here.

You're right, but it says "price" on the Samsung site, not "MSRP" and that's lower than I'm finding on any other web site. Check Amazon right now -- yes, they're selling it for $1599.99 with free shipping but the MSRP clearly shows $1,999.99, and per the printout I have in my hand, it clearly showed $2,499.99 several days ago. And no, I'm not in Canada, I'm in the US.

You are right that MSRP doesn't really matter, selling price does, but I noticed this change and was curious if anyone knew why it was happening. I thought maybe if Samsung had just lowered the MSRP on the TV we might expect to see price drops soon across the board.

And just so you know regarding fluctuating in MSRP. Last week, amazon jacked up the MSRP for both A650 & A750 (at least the 52" size) by $1,000! Then, the MSRPs went back down to what they were early this week. So, I wouldn't pay too much attention to the MSRP.

I simply wanted to know if anyone had noticed what I did, that the MSRP on Amazon just went down considerably, and I thought if it really did, there might be STREET PRICE ramifications. As in, upcoming price drops! I've already located a good deal on the TV, but if there were more price drops coming I thought I might wait a minute.

Thank you taurus2007! This confirms what I've seen, and lets me know that apparently it's meaningless and happens all the time, so I'll happily ignore it.

If you don't have any REAL information about this, then thanks for your input and I think our discussion on the matter is concluded.

None taken. It's all good. I edited my posts too. I can see where my meaning might not have been clear.

So, about 72 hours from now I should be hauling my new LN46A550 in from my van and setting it up! Wooo! Thanks to everyone in this thread for all the great information. I'll be taking advantage of the calibration settings thread next.
