Mosh~~

ive tried all modes and all inputs. They are vertical about one inch thick and they run from top to bottom. They are transparent and very noticeable on a solid background.

Did you have the laptop connected via DVI to HDMI, by chance? I tried to get it displayed on the TV under both Linux and Windows with no luck (so far). If you did, how did you do it? Thanks.

thats just effing great! I went from flicker, to stutter, to smearing, back to flicker, then to worse stutter, then to deteriorated PQ with even greater stutter, and finally now to "delamination". I requested an exchange from amazon, but im not optimistic at all. Im now trying to guess what the next issue will be. Purple haze is the odds on favorite for now, but banding is a close second.

Are you sure you really want to go through all of those again? Why not just request a refund and go buy something else.

It depends on the angle of the lights coming in or hitting the bezel. Do you currently have a tv in the place that you plan to put the A650 there?

Thanks for ur reply, if I do adjust the picture size for non-HD to wide fit then the HD also displays in wide, but I do not want to view the HD in wide and want to retain the 16:9. Is there anyway I can set once that allows to switch wide and 16:9 for non-HD and HD without manual intervention.

The 650 doesn't have a default full screen setting. You may want to check to see if your cable box has such a setting.

Set it on your SA3000 box. You can set it to wide 480i and it will also pass 1080i untouched.

I've only been using the VGA input so far. Which HDMI input are trying to use for your PC? You should be using the HDMI2 input.

I was testing it on HDMI1. I did not know that you should be only using HDMI2. Does it say that in the manual (I should have read it)?

Don't bother calling main 800 number for Ceva, I got some lady that was most difficult, instead click on map till you get the area shipper close to you that set will be delivered to and call local number. I did that for northern Virginia which was located in Duelles, spoke to a lady named Kim who was very pleasant. Gave me the option of picking up set from them today or having the set delivered tomorrow. Btw I had ordered the set on the 4/23

Mosh~~

I found this picture. I put it on a USB thumb drive and attached directly to my TV. I can see some banding near the top. Can you take a look at it and see if you can see it as well? Thanks.

im not sure yet. Burn-in is still an issue with plasmas, and the sonys will probably be really expensive. The a650 was perfect except for the 2 annoying lines. I thought my tv dilemma came to an end but i thought wrong.

I can see banding on that pick on my monitor, set to 32 bit color, as it downsizes to fit the browser window. I would guess that just about every display would have banding with that JPEG.

so i was in circuit city and i too noticed the purple fringe. the blue direcTV logo was on every screen in the place cuz someone powered down the box or something. there was a 71 and a 650 below it. i moved as far to the left as i could. 2 things i noticed. the 71 was clearer and bluer, and the 650 looked more purple and less clear the more i got away from center.

i think in their attempt to move away from the pure glossy of the 71 to something that is less reflective caused this. I mush prefered the 71 screen to the 650 as it was clearer and the colors were much more true.

just my 2cents. worth.

I think the problem with the new Toshiba models is that it's real hard to find anybody to carry them in store right now. I know a lot of people would like to have a look at the tv in person first before they purchase it. Not sure why Toshiba doesn't release their new lines to places like BB or CC. I guess they don't want to sell too many because I would have to build more.

I must say that my 650 does have a purple haze to it, although it is hardly noticeable and I can't see it when viewing content, i.e. it is not giving me any picture color quality problems or purple blacks. It was more pronounced with the backlight up at full with no powersave. It certainly doesn't look as bad as the couple of pics that have been posted in this thread.
