The XBR6 series doesn't offer 120Hz MotionFlow.

From 32" XBR page:

24p True Cinema
Movies and many prime time TV programs are captured at 24 frames per second (24p). Sony's Blu-ray Disc players wisely take advantage of this by including 24p output capability allowing a compatible connection with BRAVIA® HDTVs that have this capability. The benefit- You can watch movies in natural, cinematic motion, the way they are seen at the cinema. Every single frame of the movie can now be seen without using additional video processing that converts film-based images to video reproduction. Additionally, 24p True Cinema input capability can be used along with Motionflow 120Hz technology for outstanding fluid motion beyond what you would typically see at the cinema. Once you experience 24p video it will be hard to view video without it.

I really do hope so, but if you look on the Sony site where the specifications tab is, nowhere is it listed that the set comes with 120Hz MotionFlow technology.

It is starting to look like you have to buy the standard table stand seperatly ? The user booklet makes it sound that way.

I appreciate the optimism, but now I'm starting to have my doubts on the inclusion of 120hz motionflow technology on the xbr6 series for the following reasons:

-price point of the 32xbr6 lower than 32xbr4 considering it is 1080p vs 720p
-the ambiguity of the statement regarding 24p mode, as it says it "CAN be used ALONG" with motionflow 120hz technology, but not necessarily that this model will be able to *(considering the 32" sharp lc-32gp3u also lists 24p capability, but is a 60hz model, only adds further support to my claim)
-no listing of motionflow 120hz like it is on other models with the technology on sony's website
-on the manual pdf file for the 32xbr6, it lists the 2008 v-series along with it on the first page, which I believe the v-series are listed as not being 120hz, so one can infer that the 32xbr6 would not have it as well since it is lumped together with the v-series

Color me pessimistic, but the lack of clarity on this issue from sony leaves me no other option but to draw the conclusion that there will be no 120hz motionflow on the xbr6 series. I said in another thread that sony wouldn't be retarded enough to take a step backwards and remove such an important feature like 120hz from an older model (32xbr4) to their latest one (32xbr6), but it just might appear to be the case here. I hope for our sake that I'm wrong, since I am still planning to get this set, but if they remove 120hz, I will have to look for other options.

The initial CES statement was that they are 120hz....but somewhere along the line maybe the spec's been revised?

again, I hope I'm wrong on this, but sony isn't helping with the lack of clarity on the website or manual. I guess it's wait and see...also I read in the official 2008 sony lineup thread that they won't be including the tv pedestal "stand" - I don't know about you but that would piss me off if it turns out to be true. man, this is irritating to me b/c I would like to go with the 32xbr6 but if it doesn't have 120hz and a pedestal stand, then my options are limited. I mean the 32xbr4 would be a good set for me if it just had a 1080p panel.

I'm also a bit confused about this tv not having 120hz but I could get past that with all the other features but to not add a pedestal stand in the box is a joke I mean really its 2008 and this is a 37 inch LCD for 1500 bucks we should expect a pedestal and a 5 free blu-ray movies for this price.

Someone's brain malfunctioned on the other thread. The XBR will come with the pedestal.

I agree - I believe the specifications sheet is listing accessories "included" and "seperate" simply means it's not pre-installed in the box which many panels come with their stands separate in the box for the consumer to install depending on packaging some panels can ship with less chance of damage if the stand is separate within the box. I believe many here are misinterpreting the specifications - the section is accessories "included" not Options.

The installation fee's mean what they say - if someone wants to pay some gravy to Sony installers $269 to place the TV on a stand for that price which should not take more than ten minutes then Yes we have suckersville - but it doesn't mean there is no stand they are just offering a service to suckers that don't want to bother with those ten minutes to garner more gravy from lazy folks that don't understand how simple the task is unless you happen to be disabled and cannot maneuver the panel. Becomes a White Glove Service but it does not mean there is no stand in the box and on a lightweight smaller LCD it doesn't make sense but I'm sure they have a customer base that will pony it up.

I think everyone is getting confused. It comes with the table-top stand, just not the floor stand that is listed as optional. In the manual under the section Preparation for Table-Top Stand, it says "Remove the Table-Top Stand and screws from the carton. The screws can be found in the accessory bag."

Mongol General:"What is best in life?"
Conan:"To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women."

Hopefully you guys are right about the table top stand. That really threw me for a loop when I saw that post, I think I probably read it over and over in disbelief for the better part 10 minutes. All the blame lies squarely on Sony though, not the poster. Wording on both the Sonystyle listing and several parts manual were so explicit with respect to the stands exclusion, it would have no trouble holding up in a court of law as being overtly deceptive.

It seems strange that the 32XBR6 would have 24P True Cinema and not 120 Hz. Also, can anybody explain the differences in Bravia Engine, Bravia Engine 2, Bravia Engine EX and Bravia Engine Pro?
Thanks, Ron

I was also wondering these same things. To get 24P don't you have to reverse the 3:2 pulldown process and then multiply the single frames by 5 to get 120hz. How can you get 24P any other way? I would also like to know the difference in the Bravia engines. Someone care to explain please?

I don't see anything about S-PVA or something about the panel. Panasonic has exactly the same sizes (32 and 37) for their new LZD8x series. Is it possible that sony now mounts IPS alpha in the XBRs?

Another strange thing about the 32xbr6 is the fact that the type of tuners in the set is not mentioned.-- Ron

If this Japanese model is the same as the 32XBR6 then the 32XBR6 has 120 Hz and a 10 bit panel(http://www.jp.sonystyle.com/Style-e/.../F1/index.html)

Does anyone know if there is a way to hide the input cable behind that strange open slpot on the front panel? Also, is there a reason why these less reflective LCD panels almost always seem to have a highly reflective piano black bezel? I probably will buy this one. Thanks.

yea the way the are making the base's for it its a higher base so it can go right behing the base and the cable holder is on the base it self right where the base meets the tv, and cables sit kinda inside the base.

also to let you guys know the 32inch xbr 6 should be out in stores @ the latest 2 weeks. the tv is starting to trickle in now as in its sitting in distribution centers to go out to stores.

i don't think its the same, if it were there would be a 37 inch model listed somewhere on the sony site. Which makes me believe neither the 37 or 32 inches are japan designs. Also that 32 inch is the Z series, f1= z series.

according to the leaked roadmap posted in that other thread, 120hz motionflow will only be available for XBR6 on sizes 40" and up. the 32 and 37 are not 120hz sets but are capable of true 24p according to Sony marketing.
