These setting have been posted by clicq who has used calibration equipment to get the best possible picture out of the LNAXX550. I am posting a link to his setting here so that we don't have to dig through the thread to find them. These are considered some of the best settings for this TV model. I am also providing links to several other calibrations and information listings in this thread below.

Thanks. People, please also include sound calibration/equalizer settings. We all know the audio for this set is atrocious, let's help each other make it tolerable.

A lot of people have used Rye82's audio settings and reported dramatic improvements:

Mode: Custom
SRS TruSurround XT: On
Auto Volume: On
TV Speaker: On

(# of clicks):
Balance: 0
100Hz: 8 clicks right
300Hz: 8 left
1kHz: 4 left
3kHz: 3 right
10kHz: 5 right

I guess I love vibrance, so I changed a bit. Using Ryes sound settings as well, which have dramatically improved sound. On my HD-DVD player these PQ settings look absolutely stunning. I also used the same settings for my Directv HR21 and same outcome, the DNIe really dramatically improved everything. You guys might wanna see it between having it off. What a difference!

Dynamic Mode
Backlight 4
Contrast 84
Brightness 52
Sharpness 50
Color 51
Tint(G/R) G55/R45 --- Used a color lens to correct the red

Detailed Settings
Black Adjust - High
Dynamic Contrast - High
Gamma - 0
Color Space - Auto
Flesh Tone - 0
Edge Enhancement - On
White Balance -- All settings at 25

Picture Options
Color Tone - Normal (Cool 1 was too Blue)
Digital NR - Auto
DNIe - On (This setting really brings life to this set.)
Film Mode - Auto

Energy Savings -Off

Thanks for the input on the settings guys...on the owners thread. I am going to also try to calibrate the standard setting (or dynamic) setting mode to have a little more pop than the movie mode I posted. I will let you guys know what I get when I get home this afternoon.

Yes, It was calibrated on an HDMI input for a PS3 Blue-Ray disk since I use my PS3 for movies.

Should these settings work well with an A330 set? I'm going to try it when I get home but I want to know if I will be wasting my time.

Not sure on that. Always worth a shot though...can always reset back.

They may not translate perfectly between the 550 and 330 as they are very different sets. they may provide you with a good starting point though. It never hurts to try.

Yeah, I'll be sure to make a note of my current settings, which seem to be pretty decent just from messing around a little while. If these settings don't work out I can always change them back. Is movie mode recommended even when I mostly watch TV or play video games with the lights on? It's not an extremely bright room or anything, but having no lights on at all tends to bother my eyes after a while.

Also, I'm going to be sure to try out those audio settings on my TV too, because the speakers really aren't the greatest.

I had two lamps on when I did the calibration. Just wasn't a bright room. I am going to post a little brighter settings later on, but I am assuming those settings should work. I use those settings for movie and TV viewing. Just depends on how you like your sports

One downfall to this set, is that in dynamic mode, you cannot mess with audio settings. Big bummer!

Ok, after sitting down and playing with the setting for the xbox here is what I have. I think that the standard and dynamic modes made the colors look very unnatural (especially playing puzzle quest) and almost made them have a "neon" look. Even my wife thought that Puzzle quest looked off on either the dynamic, standard, or entertainment/game setting. The setting is pretty much the same as above with a few adjustments.

The adjustments are turn on Edge Enhancement under the Detailed Settings.
Turn the color tone to "Normal".
Sharpness is set to 35.

Let me know if you guys can come up with something different....I am going to do a calibration for the standard/dynamic setting and see what I come up with.

Here are my settings of choice based on personal preference. I use these settings for my PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, and for normal TV viewing... I'm kind of a "set it and leave it" kind of person, so went for the one-size-fits-all approach. The changes aren't all that drastic from defaults, so take these as you will:

Main Settings
Mode: Movie
Backlight: 7
Contrast: 90
Brightness: 50
Sharpness: 0 (I like a soft, clean picture)
Color: 55
Tint: 50/50

Detailed Settings
Black Adjust: Off
Dynamic Contrast: Off
Gamma: 0
Color Space: Native
White Balance: All 25s
Flesh Tone: 0
Edge Enhancement: Off
xvYCC: Off

Picture Options
Color Tone: Normal
Size: 16:9
Digital NR: Off
DNIe: Off
HDMI Black Level: Normal
Film Mode: Off
Blue Only Mode: Off

Energy Savings: Off

Sorry if the question might seem dumb, but how do you access the detailed settings when in dynamic mode? The option is grayed out for me.

Thanks.

Outsiderwv's settings look great on my A530. Much better than post#1499.

As far as I can see there is very little that is different between the sets outside of speaker configuration and Wiselink.

You can't unless I am missing something. I am not sure how that guy got into those settings, but my guess is he didn't and he just copied and pasted. Try the setting on my first post...they look great.

Hey everybody! LOVING those Rye audio settings, what a change! I just got my 46a550 today, amazing TV

I have a question though! It goes along with others, wondering the best settings for a component cable Wii, but I am also wondering about a set up that I'm sure nobody else cares about, haha. I am stuck with my old PS2 until June (then a PS3 is on its way!) and those yellow/red/white old old cables, and so I was wondering if anyone had any settings to maximize that picture, I've been fumbling around but nothing is getting a very pretty picture. I just ended up putting it back to 'Standard' and reset the settings, I'm at a loss, haha. Really appreciate any help, but I don't expect it either!

Thanks guys! Especially Rye!

EDIT: I'm also stuck with SD cable for a few more days, maybe a week or so and I was wondering if anyone had some small advice on how to max out that picture cause its ok now but if it could be better that'd be great! Got a few playoff games to watch before the HD arrives and would love to see'em at their best

I have come across many "qualified" people on AVS. For anyone who is even close to thinking about home calibration, read this piece first. I can't say I was too surprised reading it, but I am glad I did. http://www.tweaktv.com/terry-s-tips/...libration.html
