After connecting my new Blu-ray player, I began experiencing the HDMI signal loss issue and occassional pink or green flashes (2007 LN-T4061F - out of warranty btw). The Samsung guy on the cnet forum recommended that I update the firmware. I downloaded and installed the latest firmware without issue (updated from 1009 to 1037).
So far haven't seen the symptoms previously mentioned (pink flashes, green flashes, signal drop). To be honest though, I have only played on DVD so far, so it's not exactly a rigorous test.
Since upgrading the firmware though, unfortunately I have a worse problem! The picture quality has degraded substantially. At first I thought I might be imagining a difference just because I updated the firmware, but I am not. I noticed right away while watching various tv programs (both standard and HD) and then when I changed source to watch a DVD, the Blu-ray start up screen, which had previously been displaying in perfectly smooth gradients, is now showing very obvious banding. It's a similar to displaying a 32-bit image on a computer when the display is set to 16-bit. Also now if I adjust my picture settings, it only maintains them for a while, and then seems to reset them. This did not happen before.
By the way, I have read through the other posts and have already checked the service menu settings since updating the firmware, and they were already set correctly.
Is there any way to address this issue? I would rather somehow rollback to the previous firmware if it would restore my picture, and just live with the occasional signal drop.
