Has anyone seen these sets in stores yet? I'm real interested in getting the 47" set and would like to read some first impressions and retail sightings.

Typically I usually recommend steering away from budget brands.

Didn't Nissan use to be a budget brand?

I have four HDTV's already from Sony, Samsung, Sharp and Vizio. The Vizio is the worst out of the four but it was also half the price. Their new line looks real nice and has some specs and options that are comparable to sets that cost over $1000 more from the three S's.

Following up with bwoody's comment... wasn't Samsung a budget brand not too many years ago? They have to start somewhere. You can't deny the momentum and market that they have built for themselves the last couple of years.

From the other thread, looks like Sears will have it first.
The 42" will be selling for $1199 plus they will have a sale on it.

I also rememnered LG used to be considered the cheapest brand.

Sears, huh? I haven't shopped at a Sears in years (pardon the rhyme).

$1199 for the 42" is $200 off the MSRP listed on Vizio's website. I hope that means the 47" is $1499.

Doesn't Vizio use LG panels?

I bought two Vizio sets a year ago for a total of $3K: 42" and 52" 1080p LCDs.

Are they better than Samsung/Sharp/Sony? No.
Did I save some money and am I still happy with my purchase? Yes.

Let's stop with the brand bashing and help the OP.

Everyone has to put in their two cents as to why THEIR set is better. Human nature. I'm interested in how these 120Hz Vizio sets look, not their Sony/Sharp/Samsung counterpart that's $1000 more. I've seen those sets and don't feel like spending $2500-$3000. I know that comparable spec'd sets from the three S's will be a bit nicer but not enough to warrant the price premium.

I know, I bought to early!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Though I'm really happy with my VO32. But this new XVT42 just looks amazing.

Not only 10bit 120hz with MEMC but a flat panal that will have (hopefully) actual built in sound quality with having the SRS True Surrond and with a 5.1 surround sound system option.

Hmm can I convince the wife to put the VO32 in the bedroom and get the 42XVT? LOL or maybe it'll be a Christmas present to myself.

They're not available for delivery in my area yet. Shame because it's 10% off if you purchase today or tomorrow.

Page is here: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_05771948000P

There's no option to add to cart that I can see, so it appears they are showing the new TV, but don't have it in stock to ship yet.

yeah I noticed that too, The Vizio Rep, I spoke too said it should hit stores at the end of the month or early August. I surprised that Sear's would have it listed but no pre order option.

I'm pretty much convinced that I'm going to buy the 42 in and put my new VO32 in the bedroom. Know how can I do this without having to tell my wife. LOL LOL

I think the 10% offer excludes TVs. I think the 5% still works though.

It's unfortunate (for me) that this model isn't out yet. I was thinking I would go w/this new Visio, but my wife works for Sony and employee sale prices available now look too good to pass up - I can get a 46" KDL46W4100 for less than the Visio is advertised for on the Sears site...want to compare both, but the sale ends shortly.

i know it's sort of pointless to ask this question since nobody has these sets yet, but what do you think would be the picture quality difference between one of these new vizios and a samsung 40a530?

i currently use the 40a530 for xbox 360 gaming (mostly cod4) and will eventually get a ps3, but i want to move up to a 46" or 47" model. i don't have any issues with motion blur (or at least i don't notice it) so i don't know that the 120hz stuff really benefits me.

So I have been patiently waiting for a month now for the release of the XVT series tv's. Is it a fact that the release date is July early August because I planned on taking the Tv back to college with me at the end of August. Or should I just get the Gallevia (For Gaming)?
