You serious the Z doesn't support full rang RGB.... I just ordered my 46z4100 it should be here in a couple of days. I play a lot of ps3 and watch blu-rays do you guys use the same setting for just watching tv and watching blu-rays or playing game?

Unless something is jacked up on the test I ran. I am sure you will love your Z regardless. I went through 2 Samsung LN52a650 before I settled on the Z.

The TV Standard is 15-235 so this is obviously perfect for Blu Rays. I am not sure if the RGB input supports the full range though.

I use same settings for Blu Rays and games.

What is the source? Blu Ray exc? There are some Blu Rays that are just poor transfers and will result in unintentional film grain. Not a TV issue at all although I am not saying this is the case with yours.

PS3 Blu ray, and regular HD programming.
I noticed that it's only in certain scenes. And I'm not sure if the HD programming is affected by the fact that I have service through Time Warner, and I've noticed that on my W4100 (located at a different house) I don't have this problem and I have Direct TV. However I dont see how this would affect the blu ray.

has anyone used the calibration set up on certain Disney BD's such as Ratatouille? For brightness I have no problems, but for contrast I'm suppose to adjust the display till the white pattern disappears into the white background, but I can seem to adjust contrast to the point it disappears.

Just wait until you try to ask any real technical questions or try to get information regarding any of the know problems. All you'll get is a response read verbatum from a script of standard debugging proceedures that are not specific to your questions .

Just hope you'll never need that kind of help . Generally you won't learn anything more from them than you could have found out by simply reading the owner's manual yourself.

a 46z4100. Do we need the firmware upgrades?

If yes, do we need to download all of them?

Must they download in order?

Just turned it on a hour ago, the only issue I see is the color washout as you move away from center. Sony sent this unit as a replacement for our 50XBR1, did we make the right choice?

My question may have been answered before but I have missed it, but where do I find the version number of the software on my TV?

I have tried to run the software update form the menu on TV and it says "The Current Software version is NA, No update is available""

From the Product Support screen it shows HM-F-QN-B-CO

Am I missing something? I see from the Sony support link above that there is a file available dated 2/4/2009. SInce I just bought my TV on 2/25 so I expect it isn't on my TV. I was hoping there was a way to find the version from the menus since I already have the TV hung on the wall.

Is there any way to downgrade back to my original firmware? I put on the latest, 203r a week ago and used the custom settings posted for that version by ibre34. And since I put that firmware on I have noticed more blurring. I have changed motion enhance to high and this helps some, but I still notice more now than I did with the default 202r (which is what sony told me I had when I called before putting 203r). I had ibre34's settings posted for 202r back when I had that version on.

Over all the color and everything else is working fine. I am just noticing more motion blur now. It is possible I am just being over sensitive. Has anyone else noticed this change since going to 203r?

You cannot revert back to the factory firmware without a technician replacing the set's tuner board. Most of us have seen no negative impact from 203r but that doesn't mean that you aren't. You can try to go back to 202r. A number of us have gone back and forth several times. Your software level will not change but the firmware level will.

I updated mine.

I had the TV one day then upgraded the firmware. I didnt notice any differences, but I didnt use it very long before upgrading. So I'm not a good judge.

Formatted the 2gig drive to Fat32, dropped the sony_dtv_package203r.p08 file on to the drive to copy it over. Plugged it into the TV updated. The update took awhile (20 min) and in that time the TV turned on and off multiple times, lights did some flashing things on the display below. Just hang on and wait till the TV says its updated. It takes awhile.

Flash drive I used (pic)

Updating....... (pic)

Yeah! New firmware version (pic)

I love the TV. I paid $1399 at BestBuy 03/2009 Model KDL-52V4100 Its a bargain for what you get. So far I have no complaints.
