So I have been debating the size and resolution of the screen I wish to get and this seems like a great thread to post. I have essentially decided that I am going to get a 720p screen because I will only use it to play my XBOX 360, watch television and SD DVDs. I don't have BluRay and the only DVDs I buy are anime, which don't really come in RluRay yet anyway. So 1080p seems like a waste, unless I want to future-proof myself. But even if I do that, with 120Hz coming, 1440p looming and the hope that, by the time I will want a fancier tv, I will be able to afford my own place and be able to get a bigger tv for the living room. So yeah, 720p sounds like the fit.
For the size, I've been debating between 37" and 40/42". My roommates are telling me to get a 40/42" 1080p but I will be sitting between 4.5-8.5 feet away (this will just be for my bedroom, video games will be closer, DVDs and TV will be further). So since my inputs will only be 720p or less, that is a fine resolution, right? But is 37" large enough or should I look for larger? I found a great deal on the LN37A450 but I don't want to drop money and end up regretting going too small. But I also don't want to spend money for inches that won't really make a difference.
Oh, and I'm upgrading from a 27" CRT so anything 37" or higher is already bigger, even in SD. Thanks!
