NS-LCD42HD-09 Insignia 42'' 1080P $899 vs 42LG30 LG 42'' 720p $999

both t.v.'s are under $1000 not including tax's.

i know one is 1080p and the other isnt, but i am going to purchase one or the other this weekend. i have a PS3, and 5.1 Surround Sound already.

Basically i just want to know which one is a better buy, which will give me better PQ and is overall a better bang for the buck. Im only 21 and moving out into my first house with a few buddies so i am on a bit of a budget. I know the basics about LCD HDTV's but any info you guys have that you can share would be Awesome!

I have read the whole thread about the insignia 42'' 1080p and thats what i am leaning towards.

ALSO, can someone bring me up to speed about this DVD Calibration thing, AVIA i think its called. Should i look into buying that as well??

If it were me I'd either go with the 40A650 (1080P @ 120 Hz) online at about $1,150 or the 42" 720P (not 1080P) Panasonic plasma which you can get from $799-$999. The "older" 720P Panasonic sets, IMHO, are better than the 1080P sets as far as accurate color reproduction, etc.

The LG has been getting decent ratings but I did not even consider them when shopping....sorry, I am not a fan of LG products.

www.ovationmultimedia.com

There are others Digital Video Essentials (DVE), GetGrey, etc. DVE can be found rather cheaply on Amazon.

I just purchased the Insignia this month.

I went back with the coupon on the first post of this thread http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?t=868335

They gave me 10% off the sale price for a total of $809.99 plus tax. Now that's a good price IMO.

Today is the last day for the coupon though.

Oh, I am very happy with the TV after I did a basic AVIA 2 calibration.

I live in canada so for me to find that t.v. online, get it shipped etc etc would cost me quite a bit.

So far im still leaning towards the insignia, altho IDEALLY i would like to purchase a 42lg50 but i dont have the funds as of yet.
