I finally threw in the towel. I had two Sharp 52" LCDs with moderate banding. Three 4-inch vertical bands, and one 1-inch horizontal band. Also, one of the LCDs had about 5 stuck pixels. I guess I was trying to justify to myself that it wasn't that bad, when in reality those sets where really horrible.
I just returned them and turned around and bought two new Sony 52" LCDs, model KDL-52WL35135. With 120 mHz, 10-bit processor, side inputs, better PQ, better sound, etc.
Damn, you bought 2 of the 52WL135's? You must have a couple big spaces in your place for them both. I'm currently considering buying a used 52WL135 off someone on Craigslist for $1,500, but want to make sure about the warranty transfer first.

I have a 42 " sharp aquos and it has a bad banding problem. Future shop is making it impossible for me to get it replaced. I have had three technicians in and they all had different opinions of my problem. None of them knew anything about banding. Which is 100% the problem. This was my first lcd t.v. I have ever bought and will never buy a sharp again. Hopefully they will at least replace the t.v. but when ever the times comes to get a new t.v. it will not be a sharp guaranteed and not from future shop. check out this link for more
Hopefully you won't be longing for one of those new Sharps premiered at IFA Berlin.
I won't be longing for it, because I will not even look at it. period.
Until Sharp can demonstrate that they fix the banding problem, and make restitution for all the thousands of people they have screwed around with LCDs with known banding problems, I will never even think about spending my hard earned money on a Sharp.
Even if Sharp comes out with a new LCD with no problems, they need to go back and provide replacement panels to the old customers they screwed over. Then I will look at them again, otherwise, forget about it.
Sharp screwed me out of 6 grand on those two panels, now they are going to eat them. Screw me once, shame on you. Screw me twice, shame on me.
