I'm comparing Sony's KDL-52S4100 with Sony's KDL-52XBR6. The difference is about $1000. For basic blu ray and video games and HD tv, is it really worth the extra $1000? What makes XBR that much better anyways? I compared the specs and there are things that the XBR has like "Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE)" and "Motion Flow 120Hz" that the other model does not have, but really, do you guys think it is worht the extra $1000?

Go to the SonyStyle site and do a side by side comparison of features.

Looks like the XBR offers better video processing, more inputs, and better internal speakers. Probably a few other things I've missed but I don't think the difference is worth an extra $1000

Well, aside from the speakers & extra features, the XBR6 will have a noticeable improvement in deeper darker black levels & overall better contrast as well as better motion handling.

If you can afford it, go for it.

You can split the difference and get the Z4100. That unit is as good as the XBR and $300 or so less.

XBR's have backlights, this is MAJOR diffference .
I'm thinking to buy a 46XBR6 but thinking wait until middle of December, will be cheaper.
Man Black Friday was a Dissaster for stores, they sold just 40% of stuff and don't know what to do beacuse people can't buy this kind of stuff if you aren't REALLY sure you don't lose your job in a couple months, and problem is bigger than TV, companies going out off business like a hell or firing 50-70% of workers.
I was thinking to buy from AMAZON but it charging Sales TAX for NYC and i'm in trouble,
do anyone knows good online retiler for XBR without S.Tax for NYC ?

??? ALL lcd's have backlights. that's what provides the light for the image you see. no backlight, no image.

most lcd's have CCFL cold cathode fluorescent lamps for the backlighting. some use LED's, the new sony xbr8, the new samsung 950 and the new sharp.
plus a couple of older versions from sony and samsung.

iirc afaik fwiw imo

I was looking at both of these and decided on the Mitsubishi LT 40128. Better PQ and with the $600 gas card tough to beat. You would have to buy before the end of November for the card.
