Costco didn't have the 47 when I bought my 42. I was considering a 46-47 but when it came down to it my room here is perfect for a 42 and I'm glad I got this and nothing bigger.
The smooth motion can give the soap opera look when on high and only in some source video. channel surfed past Davinci Code in standard def and it was very obvious...very smooth but unreal. I like it but some won't.
here are a few pics.... taken at 8ft away. They are a bit dark and actually make the black levels look pitch black. Blacks are dark but still with my eyes I can see the edge of the screen clearly. Blacks in the middle of the screen or when the room is not dark appear pitch black.
This is the best pic, Marine Aquarium blu-ray. Great quality. In this type of scene(static background and moving objects in front) you can really see the effect of the smooth motion and light control options. With the Advanced Adaptive Lumina on you can see details in the dark parts of thE rocks. And wityh smooth motion on it is truly smooth, unreal at times but nice. That zebra Angel fish in the pic can swin accross screen at a reasonable pace at it is perfectly clear, with smoothing off it is slightly jerky but no artifacting or pixelation even with the fastest fish that swim across in half a second. The split screen smoothing demo mode helps show smooth motion very clearly. Blu-Ray via PS3.
This pic looks better than the actual appearance at least regarding the black levels. In reality I can see the border of the screen clearly. But colors and sharpness are great in real vision, on the pic the colrs are a bit off and the text is blurred a bit. Couldn't get any good shots of gameplay action becasue my camera is old and I don't have the photography knowledge. PS3 game.
This is Race07 via dvi-hdmi cable from a PC. Game resolution is 1600x900 or something close. Desktop is pixel for pixel 1080P. I'm loving my racing games with this huge screen 4 feet away
Enjoy the images and check out the TV for yourself soon at a Costco near you!
