Yep... Glad I didn't wait on that crap to actually pay $400+ more than my 52" Mitsubishi.

Smart dimming sucks!!! In a way I did expect this, because after all it is Vizio. lol

Looks like they will lose even more future buyers.

I didn't own or spend more than a few minutes looking at last year's 420xvt so i can't say how they compare.

PS3 games are working great. I turned off most of the effects and sat farther away from the screen and now it looks great and plays fast, no disadvantageous lag.

I love all of the PiP/PoP options.

I love my Monoprice cables, dirt cheap and work perfectly.

Once the sun goes down I'll take a couple more pics to try and show the black levels etc.

More pics please!

I dont the picture will be the actual TV .... I think it will the same as the 551 but with the new features!

Though the 551 has the silver audio bar other than that I love the looks.... I really doubt that the TV pictured will be that new model in December with the internet features.

I could really really use your guys help on this. I've been trying to find screws to attach my future SV471XVT to a wall mount (already installed) and for the life of me, cannot find them.

According to Vizio's Website: http://www.vizio.com/product.aspx?id=3418&pid=1504

Screw Size: M6
Screw Length: 50mm Maximum; 20mm recommended with Vizio Certified Mounts.
Screw Pitch 1.25mm

I'm able to find a gazillion M6 screws between the length of 20mm-50mm. The BIG problem is I cant find any M6 screws that have a pitch of 1.25mm. Can only find a scrwe pitch of 1.0mm. Has anyone installed to a wall mount yet or know where to possibly find these supposedly existing screws?

Any and all help would be appreciated, thanks

How many do you need? My Dad has millions and millions of screws that he has in little drawers and whenever I need something he always finds the perfect screw or bolt. I'll be seeing him Thursday and i'll see if he can dig some some for you. If you find them before then please let me know so i'm not wasting my dads time.

You might want to go with a standard M8 x 1.25 and see if it fits. Ace is the place.

A 6mm diameter standard metric screw (aka M6) can't be 1.25mm pitch. It's either 1mm or 0.75mm.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_metric_screw_thread

If the pitch is wrong your screw will simply get stuck halfway. If your M6 x 1 goes in perfectly just use that.

Thanks to everyone that replied.

Seems after talking to a dozen people at Vizio and telling them that their website must have a typo because you can't get an M6 in a 1.25mm screw pitch, they must have realized its 1.0mm and updated their website.

Now if only our local costco would get the 471's id be set!

Costco didn't have the 47 when I bought my 42. I was considering a 46-47 but when it came down to it my room here is perfect for a 42 and I'm glad I got this and nothing bigger.

The smooth motion can give the soap opera look when on high and only in some source video. channel surfed past Davinci Code in standard def and it was very obvious...very smooth but unreal. I like it but some won't.

here are a few pics.... taken at 8ft away. They are a bit dark and actually make the black levels look pitch black. Blacks are dark but still with my eyes I can see the edge of the screen clearly. Blacks in the middle of the screen or when the room is not dark appear pitch black.

This is the best pic, Marine Aquarium blu-ray. Great quality. In this type of scene(static background and moving objects in front) you can really see the effect of the smooth motion and light control options. With the Advanced Adaptive Lumina on you can see details in the dark parts of thE rocks. And wityh smooth motion on it is truly smooth, unreal at times but nice. That zebra Angel fish in the pic can swin accross screen at a reasonable pace at it is perfectly clear, with smoothing off it is slightly jerky but no artifacting or pixelation even with the fastest fish that swim across in half a second. The split screen smoothing demo mode helps show smooth motion very clearly. Blu-Ray via PS3.

This pic looks better than the actual appearance at least regarding the black levels. In reality I can see the border of the screen clearly. But colors and sharpness are great in real vision, on the pic the colrs are a bit off and the text is blurred a bit. Couldn't get any good shots of gameplay action becasue my camera is old and I don't have the photography knowledge. PS3 game.

This is Race07 via dvi-hdmi cable from a PC. Game resolution is 1600x900 or something close. Desktop is pixel for pixel 1080P. I'm loving my racing games with this huge screen 4 feet away

Enjoy the images and check out the TV for yourself soon at a Costco near you!

macdoobstein, thanks for these pictures and your thoughts about the set. It seems that you are happy with the set overall. Too bad the black levels weren't a little better. This is still the TV I'm going to get (well the 47"). I have been without a tv for way to long.

These pics do not look very flattering. But it is all relative. Set, Camera, programing! But that silver speaker bar is sticking as soar thumb imho!

ZORO-
Yes that is true my pics are ugly and believe me don't do the set justice. I don't think I have to say but will...Check it out for yourself in-store if you are considering it. And also...yes the silver polished aluminum bar is lame and I was going to buy the SV420M instead of a 420xvt, for that reason, when I saw this available a month before I expected. But you can't see it in the dark and when absorbed in something on screen it's not distracting so I'm already used to it. At some point I'll paint it or place something in front.

Also noticed a slight dark area in the upper right corner noticeable only on a white screen. Not a big deal or returnable offense for me but still a blemish.

OK I'm done here until I see some calibrations from experienced HDTV users!

If one purchases the 551XVT in September, will that set be locked out of VIA functionality for the rest of that tv's life, or will there be some form of upgrade-to-552XVT kit?
