Can anybody tell me what the official model year is for tv's (if there is one)?

i.e. Would the official 2009 model year run from March 1st 2009 until Feb 28, 2010 or something like that?

Different manufacturers bring out their new tvs at different times. And then during the year they sometimes add or delete models. Generally spring or early summer is when new models are introduced. Each maker puts their new models on their websites as they come out. So if you go there and see a model on their main pages, they are current. If you don't see the model, it's been archived, and is "last years" model.
