It seems that Sony will start using the ASV LCD panels from Sharp. The same ones used in Sharp LCD-TVs. The two has officially announced a joint venture to build a 10G LCD plant.

Of course Sharp uses their own panels but Philips uses these in their high-end TVs as well.

Do you guys think this is a clever decision by Sony? Maybe we will only see the ASV LCD panels in the high-end, large Sony LCD-TVs?

In my opinion Sharp has some nice LCD panels but the viewing angles are not great. But maybe Sony can even make better TVs from the panels than Sharp can.

I really like this. I love my 42D64U panel. Best panel of any LCD I have ever owned. I love my 46Z4100 processing. Having a problem free Sharp panel with Sony Processing would be awesome.

Yeah.

Anyone know when the new 10G plant should be ready for mass production?

I recently saw an entire thread on this forum dedicated to problems with Sharp panels. Something about a visible band being seen horizontally across the entire screen.
