Anyone have any idea on this one? I hadn't heard of the 640 - although it looks like it might be a matte version of the 55" B650 - seems odd though since Samsung also has the 52" B630. And potentially grey ToC rather than red.
I'm guessing the statement about matte screen from the posted 80,000:1 contrast ratio vs. the B650 which has 100,000:1 (and the 52B630 also has 80,000:1). It's priced $200 less than the B650 as well.
I wish Samsung would update their darn site with more info - anyone have a good source for their plan this year?

Sometimes manufacturers will run a model with a manufacturer number that you may not find back at their website.
Sometimes a special run of panels are made available to BB, Sams and Costco with unique numbers or sometimes they may add or remove a feature or accessory that results in a slightly different code and price and when you open the Box you'll often find the owners manual for the primary source and in this case it's most likely the 630 series.
I've seen where they added a wall mount in the box with a Pio or in the case of BF Specials slightly less CR and panel features. Because of the huge distribution channels those B&M's have they at times will get a special delivery of panels with a different manufacturers code that often won't be found back at their website and you have to cross compare the spec's to figure it out. I would bet you'd find a 630 owners manual in the box and these may be a test run of the 55" in the matte.
Yeah, today I noticed BB had the Samsung LN32B640 on their website. I am wondering if this is actually the LN32B650? The pic they had doesn't look like a LN32B650.

I'm confused where you came up with the data that it's not a matte panel Beeper. The B650 is 100,000:1 and the B630 (matte) is 80,000:1. (Yes the BB site says Ultra-Clear panel - but I've seen that mistake made before whereas most sites usually get the contrast ratio correct)
The implication to me is that the B640 is a matte panel (but maybe there's another reason for the decrease in contrast ratio) - but it's still confusing because it's on a 55" panel vs. the B630 which uses a 52" panel. And considering it doesn't have some of the features of the B650 - it looks like it's using the B630's internal components - making for an odd hybrid (but interesting to me since I'm looking for a matte panel because my living room has lots of light).
I tried calling BB and Samsung to see if I could get any more info but neither one could tell me anything other than what was on their respective websites.
Do you know if there are going to be 32" B630 and B610 and where I would be able to find out what differences they have from the B640 and B650. So far, I only see the B650. And I will go check out the B640 at BB. How could I find the differences? I'd even wait if I knew there would be a 32B630 which would be almost identical to the 32B650 but w/o glossy screen..
Basically I want a 32" 1080p with 120Hz. I'd prefer non-glossy. Don't care about Internet, etc. So far I know of the 32B650 and the 32B640 (though not exactly sure of the latter's differences). I guess I'm trying to see if there will be a 32B630 and 32B610. And if so, which will be matte, and which will be 120Hz, and what else.
Yikes this is getting a little silly. I've been digging in a little further on what the 640 might be vs. the 610, 630, & 650...
The Samsung website manual download section for the 610 downloads a manual that also lists the 640 on the cover - differences listed inside only show differences for the stand connector - suggesting all internals are identical.
Nothing official available on the 630 for comparison - but plasmaconcepts has this: http://www.plasmaconcepts.com/docs/s...spec_sheet.pdf (Says "Wide Color Enhancer 3" vs. "2" and says 2 USB ports vs. 1 listed on 610 spec sheet)

Seems like the B650 and B640 are gloss and may or may not even differ (i.e. B640 is just another code for BB, Costco, etc.)
But my questions is, how do I know if Samsung even plans to release a 32" 610 or 630? In other words, do I get a 640/650 now, or wait in hope of a matte 32" 610/630 that may not even ever come out? How to tell?

Yes, I looked just now through all the manuals I could find, and the 32" B640 is gloss minus the features you mentioned + no PIP. I also prefer the look/style of the 640 (no ToC and V shape).
I will assume the B630 will be the matte version of the B650 and the B610 the matte version on the B640 (more or less). When they will come out? I don't know. If it's two - 4 weeks, then I can wait. If it's 2-4 months, I can't. I wish there was some news somwhere...
Well I bit the bullet and purchased the LN32B640. I returned the Sony 32XBR9 I had purchased last week because of its auto-dimming nonsense that I could not live with. Unbelievable that you can't turn that crap off. Anyhow, looking for a 32" LCD, 1080p and 120Hz, I didn't have many options. I was going to get the LN32B650, but I'm actually glad I found the 640. To be honest, the form factor and look of the 640 is much nicer to me than the 650 red/V shape. Of course none of this means anything without image quality. So I will put it through its paces in the next few days. I could not wait for a 630 with a matte screen. And truth be told, I'll see if this screen's gloss is bothersome or not. I don't watch in a bright room, etc. If I find it bothersome, I'll be back to the drawing board. I hope not. I've had enough with LCDs. I realize you must learn to pick your poison with them...
I talked to my local Costco (in Boston) and they said they had the 46" 610s in stock and would be getting the 52" 610s today or Monday.
I'm looking to pull the trigger on a matte screen 6xx Samsung next month and now I'm debating between the 52" 610 at Costco (but they're charging full retail of $2099) or buying a 52" 630 online (since nowhere around here carries them).
Does anyone know if the Color Enhancer 3 (in 630 and 650) is much better than the Color Enhancer 2 (as 610s and 640s supposedly have)?
Can someone confirm the dimensions of the 55-640? My local BB doesn't have on on display yet. The only place I can find it is on BB wesite, but I think it's wrong. The 55-650 is under 52" wide and the spec on BB say the 640 is 53"+.
I'm leaning towards the 640. I don't need all the inet features and stuff (got 2 desktops 2 laptops and 2 xboxes, no need for anything else).
What other features would I be missing by going with the 640. Main reason is I don't like the bezel design of the 650.
I can check for you later today when i get home. I bought one last Last week. I replaced a broken Sony 50" XBR1 with it and so far I'm really happy with the PQ. The picture looks great! It has the inet crap. I did a software update with it when I fired it up. News, weather, stocks...
