i played rock band 2 a bunch this weekend and left it on Clear AMP and it was awful. i realized the game was calibrated to my old tv so i ran the game's calibration. video lag was in the 70-80ms range. i tried it with amp on/off (Clear) and game mode on/off and didn't notice any difference.

my verdict: works for me. i can't say for certain that it's more or less laggy than whatever is the best set for this, but it is certainly not worse than my old set.

So you got the same 70/80ms with AMP on/off and game mode on/off?

If it is similar to the B7100 which I assume that it is, I had to buy black curtains for my basement windows to get rid of the reflections. I have no problem with overhead lighting.

Damn that's pretty laggy. Are you sure it's 70-80ms even with game mode on and all the other effects off?

Anyone seen a good page with a side by side comparison of picture quality and features for the LN40A750 & LN40B750?

It just so happens that I calibrated rockband2 on my TV (5year old Sony rear projection) this weekend as well. I got a 100ms lag. FPSs are usually soley reserved for the PC but I do have killzone and have never noticed any issue with lag. I'm not as fast as I am with a mouse though so it may not be noticable to me.

Personally, if it's getting 20-30ms faster than my current TV I'm ok with that. The other thing to remember is there is no telling what he is running the signal through. I'd assume if you run it straight to the TV it's going to be faster than if you have it running through a reciever.

It looks good to me. I think it's better then the 52A650 and 55B7100. It might not be as good as a plasma but it's close.

I just ran the automatic test in Rock Band 2 and got the following lag results:

Game Mode On: 47ms
Game Mode Off: 97ms (AMP Standard)

I ran the test 3 times in each mode.

please post some pictures of the set. I haven't seen it IRL yet and there are still no decent pictures of the set.

That is just fine for me. I run game mode on my current Samsung (46B550) and actually think it makes the picture noticeably better.

Even 100ms...until someone tells me that they just can't play games on this set I'm finding it tough to care.

Finally! I'm scheduled to receive my 52B750 later this afternoon. This will actually be the 3rd set that Samsung has sent to me as an exchange for my original 5271 (I currently have an A850). I'm excited about everything I have read and have actually seen the TV and Fry's, and it looks very impressive. I won't have much time to test/review tonight, but as the days go by I would be happy to post my opinion & pics of the new unit. For those of you say you need more pictures, what types of things do you want to see?

Does anyone know if there is ANY Halo effect with this B750 ? I cant tell if the outside bezel is similar to the A750 that did produce the Halo effect.

Wow, that's worse than the flashlighting on the LED series.

bingo. 360 -> onkyo tx-sr706 -> tv all HDMI.

an important thing to note is that i was doing the manual calibration. which includes my reaction times. turning game mode on also grays out all other AMP options so i'm assuming it either turns them off or forces it's own settings.

and for those that wanted photos here's some i took for the unofficial thread. dunno what the deal is but my camera was not able to capture it right. it looks much better in person.

Just got my 46" B750. I was planning on a 46B7100 but with all the users that have returned it for really bad flashlighting, I decided to go with a 46"B750. So far I am really pleased. I seems to be most of what a 7100 is but with out some of the trade offs. The thinness was not an issue for me really and but I really did not want to live with flashlighting. Ever since I first saw the set out at BB I noticed the corners brighter and not uniform with the rest of the set. I also had a chance to see a 6000 in total darkness and even with the back light turned down to 2 I could still see some clouding or curtaining. I also felt as if the LED sets were doing something wierd to the colors, I think it was the over saturation that others have talked about. I figured that the A650's and A750's were winners so the B750 could only be an improvement. Overall with only less than 24 hours with the set, I have please but until I have a chance to sencore it I won't really know what the quirks with the set are.

Does anyone know if there are more than the original 4 Yahoo widgets available? I thought I checked through the set, but I am not sure if I checked corretly?

Ah yeah the receiver is definitely adding lag. Would you mind testing it by connecting it directly to the TV? The dark shots look great on this set, I don't see any clouding/flashlighting. What was your backlight set to?

Nice choice on the TV. I purchased a 46B7100 and finally decided that it was not worth the price for the same reasons you mentioned above. Tomorrow Best Buy is coming to my house to exchange it for the 46B750. I can't wait.

I neglected to mention that this was for the 52" model, and that I connected my xbox360 directly to the TV via HDMI.

47 ms is still a little laggy I guess but much better than the other results reported. Could you possibly try it in HDMI-PC mode? Thanks.

can someone tell me where the IR to turn the tv on/off? Is it all the way to the right or near the middle? The reason I ask is I have my center speaker right infront of the set in the middle....

i'm going to say on the right. i have my center sitting right in front of the middle of the set. the way it sits only about a half inch of bezel shows above it until the screen starts. that's also where the standby light and the controls are.

Hope you understand they have nothing in common when it comes to their production - the specs may be identical but the guts and the assembly is made at totally different areas of the planet. A German panel is built at a totally different plant (most likely former eastern block) in another part of the world.

This comparison makes no sense just as the members posting lag times that have no technical expertise or credentials to even know or understand what they are doing. I've yet to see a single one with any networking background that could understand how to measure data flow or the principles of networking and it would be good if they could go start their own OCD thread on game lag so we could actually get some feedback on PQ and features besides the obsession of a few with gaming lag - my three year Sharp has no Game lag whatsoever and so I do not understand this obsession of a few that muddy every single new panel with their personal obsessions when I've yet to see any of them have the credentials to support their argument or the tests they run as supported by anyone as being genuine and supported by technical evidence - because one can blog fluff doesn't mean you know jack about networking or data flow and timing sequences and how every point in the chain is impacted - please do present someone or anyone with the background to support the numbers they flaunt on this forum - these are usually YouTube freaks that have no networking training or expertise and it would be nice if you folks move Game Lag discussions over to the gaming threads. Or if you feel you have technical background to support them at least provide a profile of your background that tells us you may know what your doing. Your welcome to check my credentials - they are in my profile. Data flow is never a static event - it's constantly a dynamic event and measurement results you may observe.

I have to agree with you about the lag. There are so many variables that go into getting a proper measurement. Just hooking a laptop up to the TV and running a timer isn't 100% accurate. I can say that I game alot and extremely picky. I've played the following games so far on this set.

Street Fighter 4 -360/Arcade Stick
Halo Wars
COD4 - 360
GT Prologue
Outrun Arcade
Red Faction Demo - 360
UFC Demo - 360
Street Fighter 2 HD -PS3

I haven't had a problem or felt a delay was messing with my game. I'll add more games to the list as I play them. If I come across one that seems out of wack I'll be sure to let everyone know.

Does this TV have any issues with IR interference like the A850?

Thanks.

Street Fighter 2 HD -PS3

I haven't had a problem or felt a delay was messing with my game. I'll add more games to the list as I play them. If I come across one that seems out of wack I'll be sure to let everyone know.

This is all I care about. I've been coming to this forum for 3 years to get advice on TV's.

I've experienced first hand what this place can do to a buyer who is even the slightest bit curious about whether or not to return a set.

bpmurr if you've played SF4 (my favorite game atm) and say that it doesn't feel laggy then there simply is no lag on the set worth mentioning. SF4 is a game that requires precision in both a panel and a player. If there was gaming lag on the B750 worth mentioning you would find yourself unable to pull off the more advanced combo sets/special moves.

Screw laptop timer tests. Just play some games and if you notice yourself sucking, post. If you've been playing COD4 for a year, are really really good, but find you just can't aim right on a B750, then post.

That, I think, is the extent to which gaming lag discussion should be allowed. Unless of course you have the background to back up your statements.
