Has anyone tested this tv for gaming with a PS3 or 360? I have the LN52a750 and no matter what you do can't get rid of the hideous amount of input lag on this tv. Gaming mode makes it tolerable although there is still some but the picture looks like total crap and isn't adjustable. I'm ready to dump this tv for whatever I can get for it and get a new one but this time want a tv with little to no input lag for gaming....

Thanks

Input lag test results on the 52A750

"Maybe the input lag on this set matches the lag in your head therefore you don't perceive it".

I still haven't been able to personally view this screen, but I am looking hard as prices begin to fall.

Quick question about calibration - is it a one-time event or will LCD panels tend to change over time and require periodic recalibration?

Thanks,
Kevin

I think ALL tv's need a little touchup every now and then. Plasmas more so.

I use Lion AV, and the touchup is half the price of the first cal.

I don't notice any lag in game mode. There is no PQ loss in game mode either. The motion processing features just get turned off.

When Game mode is turned on, does it affect all Picture modes? E.g. Standard, movie, natural, etc.

Hi, am definitely considering the UN55B8500, but would like to hear peoples opinion on the screen reflection/glare that have been reported in some of the reviews.

My room has some large windows, which are fine to darken the room when watching movies, but general daytime TV use (using the TV in the daytime rather than necessarily a Jerry Springer marathon) would mean having some reasonably bright daylight in the room.

How does the reflection compare to other similar screens, is it better/worse/same as the 8000?

Thanks,

I think netflix will only play through a proprietary internet-explorer-based program.

Some of that i think will depend on what the pc can do picture wise. I hooked mine up to my lap top with 1400x900 i think it was. Winamp visualizations look sick on a 55 inch screen. But i have 7100 though and was just cruising this thread.

One thread for people still trying to decide if they are buying set, where and for what price.Another thread for owners to post settings, reviews and anything else on the 8500.Tv so good it warrants two threads.

I'll have mine Friday. I could have got it today, tomorrow or Thursday but my boss would not let me have 30 minutes off to go meet the guys at the house.

Some people just don't understand how important this HT addiction is.

I received my UN55B8500 on Monday 11/2/09 and so far I am very satisfied. It came on the stand and I had it working within a few minutes. Calibration will come later. The picture quality is excellent regardless of room lighting and the off angle viewing is better than I expected. I have viewed it from right, left and up angels. Since my 8500 is in a room with a lofted ceiling and viewable from the second floor I can view it from +30 degree angle and it looks good. I wouldn't want to watch from up there all the time, but the view from that angle is quite good.

I purchased the Peerless SA760P-S SmartMountĀ® Articulating Dual-Arm Wall Mount bracket and the PLP-V4X4 Custom Interface Bracket (VESA adapter). I have a Definitive SSA-50 surround bar on order and I still need to select an AV Receiver.

My main question is does anyone know of a source for a mounting bracket to attach the SSA-50 to the Peerless SA760P-S wall mount bracket?

Also any recommendations for the AV receiver are welcome.

I have had my 46inch since October 24th. I like it alot. Not many people post much on it. I use it for watching tv, Blu Rays and Xbox 360. Great so far! The only think I am not a huge fan of is compared to the 7100 and 8000 where the light at the bottom is built into the frame the 8500 have the blue light kind of hanging at the bottom and could break off if someone doesnt handle it right.

Do you notice any lag while gaming? What tv did you previously own?

Well, here at the problems. The "free" Samsung player does not work. Having ordered from US Appliance, your only option is to return it to Samsung. They will pay the shipping and all costs BUT it will take two weeks or so to get a replacement.

The TV seems to be working fine but on one Blu-ray DVD, I did see the mysterious cropfields that someone else mentioned. I only saw in once so I am on the lookout for it to reappear. I did contact Samsung and they said they had no similar complaints reported.

I think the bottom line with USAppliance, is that if you have a problem you have to deal with Samsung. That is what you have to put up with if you want to say $$$$'s over a local dealer.

Hope the 8500 doesnt suffer from the reliability problems that other samsung products have on the forum.

I hope they don't either since I have one coming Friday. I've only had a couple of Samsung BR anda BR/HD-DVD player in the past so I can't vouch for their reliability on TV's. Does anybody know how the A950 series held up?

Well I'll have 30 days to decide I guess...

Wow, haven't you had like 5 different TVs within the last year? Did you return them all or do you just sell them when you get the itch for something new? Or do you have one in every room of your house?
