Anyways enough with it!

As promised, I got some pictures. As far as I know, these seem legit and I got them from sources which I will not disclose for reasons. Other information not shown on the picture seem to indicate that the XBR11 might incorporate a redesigned version of Sony's previous XBR4/5 design. Apparently it might be brushed metal instead of plastic glossy black bezel, and will have a shorter width and length span, so it won't be as thick as the previous designs.

There were 3 other technologies that they wouldn't share as you can see, they blocked it over. I posted on imageshack to share with you guys. I hope these go ahead!

First picture; this is what we can expect on the newer design (dimenstions at the very least) of the XBR11, I'm not sure about the other series.
Quote:

Second picture; this is a list of proposed Sony television series. I'm not sure if all of them would be available this year, but I do hope so! I'm really curious to see these new X-series LED edge-lite. Anyways, the XBR12 to have RGB?!?! That caught me off guard. Let's pray these prototypes get through.

Quote:

Third picture; here it shows some specifications of the proposed XBR11. As said above, they blocked things on here and I wonder what. The XBR11 might use UV2A panels and have EMO brand speakers? Surely the built-in speakers would be much better than all the televisions available but this might be added cost. HD triple tuner means no more cable boxes? I see $$$!

I recall seeing that first picture somewhere within the past year, so shenanigans on that!

KDL-ZX Series OLED.... holy batman!!!

However, if any of the other information holds true, it will certainly be an exciting lineup:
-Advanced LED RGB backlit
-Bravia Engine 3 PRO with HD Video Processor DRC
-UV2A Panel
-Available in semi-gloss and glossy panel (/SG, /G)

Perhaps the XBR12 will be released sooner than September 2010 since no successor to the XBR8 was released this year.... Perhaps we'll see these at CES 2010 in January!

yeah, pretty exciting stuff. did I miss it, or is there some mention of what size displays these new XBR11/12's will come in? Is Sony finally going to go u p to 55" or even 60"? The pictures are gorgeous, as only Sony designs can be! That's why they feel they can charge 20% more than everybody else!

Curious to see if they'll actually release a 32" xbr with led backlighting. 2010 is going to be huge for LCD.

It's backlite as showed, for some reason it doesn't specify local dimming but it is local dimming.

yeah, I don't know how they get away with it year-after-year, but the mark-ups they do on their products based solely on....what...superior design? Or is their tech that much better than the Korean manufactrers? Doubt it...Sony is kind of like the Les Paul of TV vendors - you know it's a fantastic product, but you can the same or better sound from a Fender for much less!

Given the $4500/$5000 prices on the xbr10, they are going to have to price the xbr11 at xbr8+ levels. I won't even guess what the xbr12 will cost.

and did anybody else notice the 1980 x 1080p spec in the graphics? Just a typo? Also, no mention of widgets or any advanced connectivity/interactivity, but a few of the specs and logos are blacked out. But most of these specs are something any of us would have guessed if we wanted to make a mock up...

emaJOEnation Wow

So only the xbr12 is rgb, if it doesn't come at 65" I'll take the 60" thank you very much.
I hope it has a seperate media box, anyone know?
It better have good speakers, crap speakers are the reason I haven't gone to samsung. My kuro side speakers are nothing to write home about but compared to the ones on the samsungs...
I would also like a glossy panel like my kuro and a glossy surround (not many hopes on the surround though).

The first pic is old and from the SingStar-Promo in April 2008:

http://www.hdtv-space-forum.de/sony/...14346#msg14346

I doubt it has something to do with the new 2010 X-Series.

I hope the rest isn´t a fake (why no BE4, why no "XEL-Series" for OLED?)! Sounds nice and great: No glossy black plastic for the XBR-Series! The brushed metal with Floating Glass is so much better

60" isn´t expensive anymore - 10G plant in Sakai from Sharp! Samsung itself can produce with the 11G plant for 2010 eight! 70" from one motherglass! The new XXL-screens can be cheaper produced then my 40" PVA-Panel in my 4 years old Samsung M51 (I had to pay 2050 EUR in 2006 for the LE-40M51).

THey did mention emo brand speakers
(http://www.emolabs.com/emoproducts/TV_Solution.html)
i wonder how much better they are from ordinary television speakers though

Is there any word yet that Samsung will build a new 11G plant? Yep, the first pic is not an actual photo of an XBR11, just a thought of what is to be expected on the newer design. I do hope it does look similar, at least by dimenstions!

According to the Samsung Global Site the 70" panel are currently in mass production. To my knowledge not possible with the 8G-plants, because the motherglass is not big enough. They planned the 11G plant in 2007, with production start in 3 Q. 2010. But i guess because of the earlier production start from Sakai in October 2009 an not 2010, Samsung could started also earlier the production to counter the large screen developments by Sharp.

I guess 5-6K EUR (ok, that always means $5-6K for US...) is possible for the KDL-60XBR11. It´s not so expensive because of the 60" panel, only because it´s the Sony brand and will use som high-end features. That means 7-10k for the KDL-60XBR12... But the 60" entry and mid-range LCDs for less than $2500 are not far away. I guess the XBR10 will become a price-drop if the new lineup started in Spring.

I have always been interested in the premium that Sony charges for allot of it's products. Is it just to keep a perception out there that there is some kind of value built in and it is worth it?

I just spent a week with one of my Japanese friends on a business trip (he is a mechanical engineer that designs LCD manufacturing equipment) and he always refers to the "Sony Timer". This is the timer he says that will smoke the Sony product shortly after the warranty is up. Hard to justify paying more for something that has that rep in their home country, but I am still taken with the PQ of the XBR8 and if I had the room and the money I would buy it.

Well one of the main reasons why the XBR10 is extremely expensive is due to it's wireless connectivity. That doesn't come cheap. Anyways, these new televisions will become more price competitive

it is so buggy with all pixelation, and extremely bad viewing angle, even worse than xbr8

I saw one at BB and I was not impressed at all. I guess if you really have to have wireless, but the pq definitely was not up to par with other non-wireless sets available.

I really do like it.

Me too. I hope it´s not a fake (the stand looks a little bit like Samsung)! The bezel is gorgeous and looks like the old MRX WEGA! Kudos to Sony if the XBR11/12 looked like this.

I understand, I'm not entirely sure of the authenticity. I just do hope so, the specs do seem reasonably well put, real or fake.

Are they planning on supporting a native 120Hz @ 1080p over the HDMI connection in this model? It would make life a lot easier for gaming and HTPC use if they enabled a source to feed the display at faster than 60 Hz.

They'll have to do this eventually for 3D support, but I can't see what it's that hard to do.

And what the heck is the triple tuner supposed to do?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but to my understanding, there are no sources that output at 120hz. Most of the sources sent through HDMI are commonly at 60hz and any increase of the hertz is done internally inside the television.

Correction - Computer video cards can output at 120Hz and above. However, there are only two commercial flat panels that actually accept a 120Hz signal (at 1680x1050) using a dual link DVI-D cable...

http://www.samsung.com/us/news/newsR...q=11954&page=1

http://www.viewsonic.com/products/de...uhzion-lcd.htm

Thankfully both monitors do not require 3D content for them to display a 120Hz signal, and reviews have indicated less blurring and other things. Can you people imagine REAL 120Hz.... I've seen it many times on my CRT computer monitor....

I'd imagine at some point the ability to display 120Hz signals on HDTVs (on all flat panel techs).....
