Patience is a virtue, folks! As is variety! I think.
Additionally, I DO love the whole "anything smaller than 60 inches is worthless and not for true home theater enthusiasts!" rhetoric here. I have a 40" and say I have a home theater system! That must INFURIATE some of you!
I hope you're right about the possibility of additional models being released later this year. Adding one HX909 in either 55' or 60" I think would be met with good success.
Please excuse my newbieness but aren't both sets edge lit? If so, why is the LX900 better?
Edit: Looking at the spec sheets, the HX800 has Dynamic LED with a Deep Black Panel whereas the LX900 has Edge LED with a Opticontrast panel. Could anyone briefly explain the differences please?

This is why it's thoroughly confusing as everyone seems to have differing opinions. One says the LX900 while the other says the HX800. Thanks anyway guys.
Edit: Going purely by the model numbers, the LX900 is an XBR set. Aren't the XBR sets Sony's top of the line products and thus should have better PQ?

Ok, will do that. But going back to my last post, shouldn't the set that has "XBR" in its model number have a better PQ? Again, I apologize in advance for being a complete newbie at this and thanks for your replies.

This is a perfect example why certain members of this forum should spend less time posting and more time reading.
Morbeas...don't worry to much about the confusion. These displays are starting to arrive and some real world comparisons will be showing up soon. Going by specs and features is a good guideline but let's see what the first hand opinions and professional reviews have to say.

your right ....ask and someone will answer.....but Andrew is on point based on the info we have.......just pq...( forget model #'s and all that) HX900, hx800, lx900..........read the link i've supplied which by the way has been addressed throughout this thread....some of us who have been following this thread from infantcy are a little tired of the repeat questions but i do understand trying to go thru 60+ pages
Westa, very well responded. I can't really fight anything you said. I myself keep jumping from upgrading to a 46" or a 50-something", HX800 or 900. Can't decide. I'm hoping my trip to the Sony Store will solidify a decision. What'shisname's thread about the 55" HX800 is beginning to change my mind, which was already made up to do the 46" HX900. I don't wanna deal with a heavy TV, but the 55" is only about 60 pounds altogether, I've taken bigger craps than that.
Dell has it listed at MSRP and J&R has still not relisted the 909. B&H has good prices but they do not accept returns on TVs even if it's defective. B&H also charges your credit card when the item is purchased (not shipped) so that may impact a credit card dispute, return, or warranty window. I wonder if the B&H price will stick or will it go up?

there is some negatives there but if the TV is defective, wont sony replace under warranty? i could see if we were talking $300 bucks here but were talking $1030
i dont think j&r is gonna have the TV for 2969 like b&h though, b/c they have the hx800 up there now for only 300 off cost, not 1000
