I was in Wilmington, NC today and stopped by a HHgregg store for the hell of it to see if they had any new models. They were actually just taking them out of the boxs. So I ran some erands and came back a few hours later to check them out. I have to say they look a lot better than the B models as far as looks of the sets themselves, especially the bezel. But the stand is still not for me. It isn't as bad as I thought it would be from some of the pics, but still not my fav. They actually had the new Cs right next to the Bs, and I played with both. I really really tried my best to see the bright corners and flashlighting that people posted about before and couldn't. And I really did everything to make it happen. They have a good "expert" test screen in the options menu, and I used that since it is very black in the top left, as well as playing with other channels. I played with every setting I could think of like gamma, brightness, backlight, etc. I even took my jacket off and put it over the set and my head so it was completly dark, and I didn't see the horrible flashlighting described before.
What I did see was that the out of the box color and pic isn't that great. Its ok, but on the showroom "dynamic" or whatever I could tell a huge difference instantly as soon as I switched that to another setting. They had the 46c7000 and 46c6500 side by side, so I played with both. Also played with the 55" just a bit, but it look just as good, only bigger.
Also have to say the remote is pretty good, and I like it a lot better than the '08 and '09 remotes. I'm talking about the brushed aluminum back-lite one that comes with the 7000 and 8000. The one with the 6500 didn't look anything special.
The salesman was annoying as hell, but before I left I asked about the 8000, and he said it wasn't in his system (he went to look), and also nothing about the touch screen remote that comes with the 9000 that you can also buy separately for the 7000 and 8000.
Bottom line is I'm sure some hard core av-aholics will find a tiny bit more light at the edges, or something else to complain about when comparing it to a Kuro or maybe even the 8500, but 90+% of people looking for a new TV are going to really like this set.
Just for the heck of it here is a link:Samsung 46" Class 3D 1080p 240Hz LED HDTV with 4 HDMI™ Inputs (45.9" actual diagonal size)
I didn't even look at the prices, just the TVs, so I don't know how they compare.
Also, I wouldn't buy from Bestbuy, but I did call them and they don't have any of the new sets, and don't know when they will.
