I read some comments on amazon about the UN55C7000 exhibiting some clouds during dark scenes. Anyone know how bad this problem is? I hate 2nd guessing myself..

That set comes with glasses and 3D BR player included for free through Sunday. All 7000 LCDs I believe.

Yes, I saw that after I ordered it! I cancelled the order and then re-ordered with the bonus stuff. Insane deal!

So, anyone have experience with this cloud issue? I guess they think there is some lighting on the unit during dark scenes. Problem? This is a family room TV and I doubt we'll be super critical with our viewing. Is it an obvious issue or one for the anal videophile?

This thread went dormant after folks started getting these sets. You should post in the Official Samsung ... UnxxC7000,... etc. Owners Thread to get some opinions from owners. See the link in my earlier post to you. I'm following that thread in case my 2 year old 52A860 conks out. My take is that complaints about clouding/flashlights appear every so often, but don't dominate the thread. There were also some complaints about crosstalk in 3D.

Any idea when the UN65C8000 LED will be released? The website just says July?

1st time posting here. Hello everyone!

I didn't want to start a new thread for this and I also couldnt find a definitive answer through the search engine.

I'm definitely buying either the Samsung un46c8000 or the un40c7000. My question is which one would be the better choice? I don't care too much about the 3D aspect. I know I heard there were some ghosting issues with these models but if it's only when viewing 3D, then I don't really care.

That being said, can someone justify spending the extra money for the precision dimming feature and a slightly higher DCR on the 8000?

I'm new to this, so please be gentle
Thanks

Edit: Sorry if this is in the wrong thread. I just discovered the, "help me choose an LCD" thread.

I just purchased a C7000 and returned next day for a C8000. The Edge light is just too high on the C7000. I am still not happy with the C8000 and i am considering returning it for a non edge-lit TV. There is always an effect on Horizontal letter-boxing that does not let you enjoy a perfect dark room screening. Surprisingly the C8000 with the supposed local dimming does Vertical letter-boxing (4:3 format playback) perfect (something that the C7000 does not), but still fails with the Horizontal letter-boxing. The bottom corners emit a light that is distracting.

C7000 issue with some light, in dark room it's even more noticeable. C8000 has same issue but only in dark room and i really don't understand the difference from Edge Light to Edge light with local dimming, it has no Effect on Horizontal Letter-boxing.

I have some pictures that i will upload but Edge lighting is definitely a flawed technology. I regret buying it... I am still considering retuning it for a different backlight tech, unfortunately there are no 3D Led that do not use the Edge lighting. I wonder if Sony's Edge light with local dimming work better than Samsungs???

The flaw is only visible on a dark room with the C8000 but with the C7000 it's always visible. It's VERY hard to detect this on a store that does not have a dark showroom.

I am so disappointed that a 2K (40'') television set has such basic lighting issues. I am depressed with my purchase instead of jumping on happiness and enjoying my expensive purchase.

I have a bunch of Samsung products (Digital Cameras, Laser Printers, LCD computer monitors, etc...) and this is the first one that i can say i am disappointed with and also the most expensive.
