I found this set at sam's club, its 120hz and about 3-400 cheaper then the normal v series TVs. Is this a stripped down tv for sams or is it a good tv. I have been looking for a tv between 50-60"s and under $1,500. Currently have a kdl-40w3000 and we are looking to upgrade.

There is at least one existing thread on this TV if not more.

It should be equvalent to a V5100 series or possibly slightly better. The guts look to be the seem, but they quote a higher dynamic contrast ratio (FWIW), but they use a nicer cabinet from the Z5100 instead of the V cabinet.

I did use the search function and there is not a lot out here in regards to this tv. The vl150 is going for 1200 and the v5000 is going for 1500 in the 52 inch range.

I was wondering about this model also as I found it on Costco's website, I was looking at a KDL-52V5100 but after reading the extensive thread I am now not so sure about it's reliability.

Hello, i actually have this set which its two weeks old and i am already experiencing problems with this lcd. Besides the red flashing and popping sound when changing channel the picture is beautiful, now i just experience this new issue where there's a three inch transparent bar going down the middle of the tv. i have pics in the 51v series section.

The early indication of a bad set is your experience of getting a popping noise when changing channels.
It's most definitely a TCON board problem (which I believe is a main section for the picture production)
