I know the EX500 was released this month so there are no reviews of any kind on the web. I keep checking everyday with no luck. Is it possible the EX is just the V but just rebadged? I read where they may do that at times but I'm very new to the TV scene so I might be wrong. I read that, that MAY be the case since they both have near the same specs. Is always getting the newest TV the best or maybe I should try the V series. There's only a $50 difference so I may just wait for the EX. Would anyone know when reviews on it might start to trickle out? Thanks in advance.
I'm assuming Amazon has the best return policy? I noticed Sony has dropped the 46VE5 to 1049 yesterday/today. Also, does anyone know or have another tv site that may have the first decent professional review of the EX500? I keep looking every morning and night for any word on the EX500. I'm getting kinda obsessed.
as i do not watch sports that much, and this bedroom set is typically on CNNhd only, i'd think that it is basically as good as the new upcoming Sony despite the fact that this Samsung is only 60Hz and the new Sony is 120Hz, right? Or am i incorrect?
btw, i use this bedroom set primarily as background news type thing, so if something sounds interesting, i poke my head out of the bathroom while shaving or what not to watch/listen.
there is one specification of the Sony that appeals to me a lot: the total height (including the base) of the Sony is around 2" shorter than this particular Samsung that i mentioned above. this is significant for me as the additional 2" height would obscure the bottom of the frame of a a frame that's hanging on the wall immediately behind where the TV will go to, so the Sony would fit this space better than the Samsung.
may i ask what you all think about these 2 options? pros and cons? thx!
For those that are wondering supposedly the contrast ratio on the 46EX500 is 150000:1. I bought this tv a couple days ago after reading many positive user reviews on the best buy website. I did not purchase this from best buy though, picked it up from a local home theater shop after taking back a Vizio SV420M and havn't looked back. To sweeten the deal, they also sold it to me for 1000 before tax. This tv also does not have the random red flashing problem that the v5100 had, at least mine doesnt . I did have a problem with the first one I had, it had a faulty power supply and would only turn on after resetting the surge suppressor it was plugged into. Swapped it out with the one they had on the wall in the store, it was the only one they had left and I didn't want to wait for the next shipment, problem solved. The only other gripe is that you will have to tweak the presets, I say this because they are all tuned incredibly dark and it really makes it tough to see details in dark scenes on movies and games. The 120Hz processor also works amazingly well, at least compared to the vizio, no longer does all content viewed look like a crappy soap opera. Hope this information will be of some use.
