Does it pay to get a LCD TV that has the ability to play audio and video files or build a separate htpc rig for that.

Was looking for a 40-46 inch 1080p TV that can play mkv/avi/mp3 files via usb thumb drive, but haven't seen any that do this.

Any recommendations appreciated.

Samsung has mediaplay that supports MKV.

However, some of my MKV files don't work, or the audio format wasn't supported. It works half time to time.

IMO avi/mkv etc looks best on a computerscreen.

I can download a lot of movies from the net (for free,i live in Europe),i dont do it because i do not like the quality.
I use a satellite dish and a dvd-recorder,once recorded i put the dvd in the PS3.
