This is a very unfortunate turn of events but according to VIZIO support, there is no firmware update planned on being released in the future to allow USB play back of movies, Please see my attached chat session with them. They also claim the E420VL-TW does not play movies on there. You can always just get a BLURAY player with the usb capability and put a hd in there and view it on the tv.

I have noticed that any minor jiggling of the power cord and/or HDMI cable will disrupt signal or shut off power entirely. Anyone else noticed this issue? Also, the TrueVolume (or whatever) seems to make commercials louder, not quieter.
