Im stuck between these 2 TVs. I originally had the LG LX9500 on my list too, but was very unimpressed after seeing it in the store. I am coming from a samsung a750 and I do love the "samsung pop". So to anyone who has either of these 2 models :

1. Does the Sony picture pop?

2. It seems the Sony has better Blacks but is it so much better to where it justifies the huge price difference for a smaller set?

3. Which TV would you say is brighter. I have a lot of glare in my living room

4. Motion flow- Which tv handles motion better? Do they both produce the soap opera efffect?

Were you comparing them with the same source? Did you change the settings or were they just the in store settings, thanks

Obviously not, because both deliver excellent picture.
The Sony will have a better contrast nonetheless because of it's backlit local dimming.

Thanks for the response. I know they give excellent picture but there is no store by me that has them both on display. I just wanted someone who got to see the same source input whether it may be cable or the same blu ray movie to give me a comparison

I had the LG LE8500 which has similar (if not identical) 2D PQ to the LX9500 and ended up returning it mainly due to its highly reflective mirror like screen. If you can live with the subtle zone banding on the LG it does have stunning PQ in a dark environment.

The Sony HX909 also uses direct led local dimming so has excellent blacks and contrast. From all accounts (check out the owners thread) the HX909 does a better job handling reflections and does not exhibit any of the zone banding the LG sets have.

I would recommend the HX909 over the LG.

I second ryu888, get the HX909. Full-Array LED will always be better than Edge-lit. I love my C8000, but I give it to sony on this tv simply because of the full-array LED.
