Yup- been taking most of my info from there but someone suggested a separate owners thread like exists for the HX909 and LX900.

As long as folks post- either way is fine with me

Thanks

Nice. Post some pics when you can. Was the stand attached or did you have to attach it?

I'm guessing on at least the 60" NX810, that the stand is already attached in the box as it is on the 60 " LX900, but I look forward to your report after you receive it.

I got my 55" NX810 yesterday. I haven't done much with it as I won't get my Blu-ray player until Monday.

Yeah but the LX900 and HX900 are quite different TVs. The difference between the NX710 and NX810 is just the 240Hz MF addition, no? Unless that's different than it was for the NX700/NX800. And different sizes too I think but really they can be covered in just one thread.

Does the bezel on the 810 look the same as the 800? Any close up shots?

The NX810 doesn't have the 1/2" aluminum trim around the outside of the bezel as on the LX900 or HX909.

Does anyone know if there's an optional speaker stand available for this model? And for what TV sizes, if so?

To update what I said, the NX810 additionally has the Opticontrast panel (the NX710 doesn't have this).

Well here's the 55" version ($350 MSRP looks like):
http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/...52921666257817

If you want to find out about the other sizes, go on the same site and find the model and then click on the "Accessories" tab; or, go in the "Specifications" tab and look under "Optional Accessories" and it should list it there as well.

This is interesting. I have a bright halogen reading light. It is reflected in the NX810 and there are also 4 secondary green-red reflections arranged around the halogen's reflection.

I guess this is due to diffraction in the NX810's surface. I wonder if it is related to the 3-D capability?

Any input lag? A baseball or golf game is a good way to test it.

Well, at least the 55NX810. Dropped from $3700 last week on sonystyle.com, to $2900 as of today.

It's probably the OptiContrast coating--that's my guess anyway.

It's better. You can either look at it as the NX800 with the combined features of the HX800 and LX900 (except the built-in 3D transmitter); or you can look at it as an LX900 without the transmitter, plus the edgelit local dimming from the HX800.

In other words it's actually better than the LX900 in picture quality, though it's lacking the built-in 3D transmitter and included glasses.

To anyone who has a 60" NX810.... does the TV swivel on it's stand? I've asked in other threads and have been told both yes and no. It's got to be one or the other... thanks for your help.

Good to hear that at least so far no major issues are being reported, unlike the previous NX800 and NX700 which had numerous problems, especially for such a premium-priced TV.

Anyone have an idea of how this new model compares to the previous NX800/NX700?

I had a NX700 and had to return it due to the ridiculously bad viewing angles, the shadows in the shape of three 'cones' at the top of the screen (which is only detecable against solid colors) and the annoying creaking sounds that the back of the case made when it was warming up.

I bought a EX700 which I've been very happy with, but I'd like to demote it to the bedroom TV, and get something like this NX800, the look/design is awesome; but am only williing to pay the premium price they're asking if it doesn't have these major flaws...

Good News!

The price of the KDL-55NX810 is coming down- by a lot!
Here are the new prices I've found:
SONYSTYLE: $2899.99
http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/...52921666249185

CRUTCHFIELD: $2,896.00 (with rebate)
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_15855NX....html?tp=35862

VANNS: $2,899.99
http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/it..._c=site_search

BEST BUY has just added it to their "Coming Soon" items, but it lists its price will be: $3,499.99. BB will need to bring this price down to stay competitive. See: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....egories&ks=960

What is the best wall mount to use for the NX810? Anything else I need to buy besides a wall mount (ie: brackets, etc)?

I have been staring at the HX800 for about 3 weeks now and just about bought one today in Best Buy. The 3D bundles pretty much decided the value of the tv for me but I thought I would take a look over at AVS to see if the 800 was worth it and I am glad I did now. I started reading about the hx810 and so far it seems amazing.

So I called Sony Style to check in on the %20 off discount and learned a few things.

1-Not all Sony reps can give the %20 discount. I guess it is determined on how the rep sets up the the way they make money (commission?)
2-You cannot get the 3D starter kit and the %20 off, at least not with the rep I spoke with.
3-I got away with getting only 4 accessories but the deal is for purchasing 5. I just chose the items that were in the bundle (2 glasses, Alice movie, 3D transmitter). I would just add on a hdmi cable like someone else recommended if they forced me to.
3D starter kit is $400
20% off the TV alone is $580
So in the end you get $180 over the 3d starter bundle if you use the %20 off.

Not only do you save more by using the %20 off as compared to the bundle but the %20 off extends to CERTAIN accessories. The HDMI cable counted and she wasnt sure if the glasses counted or not. I did not want her to run everything through checkout just to check on a coupon.
I will be ordering mine tomorrow when she calls back I was going down the highway with my wallet in trunk or else I would have bought it tonight.

1) My NX810 shipped according the Sony Style website on 9/29.
2) Called today and it was supposed to be in my city.
3) Called the local delivery company and they didn't have it on their dock.
4) They called back a while later and said they didn't have it anywhere in their system.
5) Called Sony and they were certain it was in my city. They said "let's wait a day for an updated shipping tracking update. I pushed for an update today. They said they would update today.
6) Got an update. Goes something like this, "Great news, we are shipping another TV" grr.
7) I email back, and ask it's not so great news for me, I have to wait another week.
8) They reply, here is the new tracking number. more grr

They are supposed to ship tomorrow (tues) with 3 day fedex. I'm really disappointed as I was hoping to be watching it this afternoon.
