I'm between these 2 tvs at the moment, I want the best black level I can get, and I'm not really worried about 240hz processing and motion plus. Anyone have any advice on which one to get?

I'm actually really between the 55" lh90 and 46" 6800, because they're the same price on the website I want to get it from.

I think I'll get the LH90, Chad B gave it a 4 for MLL on his chart: http://hdtvbychadb.com/reviews.htm

I'm just hoping it has significantly better blacks than my PN50B860 plasma, which Chad gave a 2 for MLL. The only thing is I don't know how good the UN46c6800 is in comparison because there isn't any reviews. I don't want to go to a 46" from a 50" but if the picture quality is that much better than an LH90, then I'll do it.

I don't think you'll be disappointed. The LH90 is one of those TVs that after I'm done calibrating it I just sit back in amazement of how good it is.

So I would see a significant improvement in black levels and overall picture quality going from an 860 Samsung plasma to an LH90?

If they are calibrated correctly, yes.

I'm looking at the results for the audience voting at the 2009 HDTV shootout, and it doesn't look good for the LH90.

The LH90 was voted worse than the 860 for blacks. This is really upsetting, I want a tv with better blacks, not worse. Oh well, back to the drawing board for me I guess.

comparing LCD to plasma is not a fair game to judge black level.
Let me share with you what i summarize from the link (chart).
ignore the plasma section.
compare samsung B8000 and LG LH90 - samsung better right?
now what will the answer be comparing C6800 and LG LH90 - will C6800 be better or equal?
and also i personally find new LG 55LH90 is one of the best 55" LCD.

I remember looking at that chart and wondering the same thing at the time...WTF? The LH90 definitely has better blacks than the Samsung 860, from the time I had it in house I would compare it more to the Panasonic V10 for black levels if I had to compare it to a plasma.

Per CNet:
"In fact the LG's blacks were nearly indistinguishable during dark scenes from those of the Samsung B750, A950, and B7000 LCDs, and not quite as deep as those of the Sony XBR8, the Panasonic V10, and the Pioneer--but again the differences were subtle, even in a dark room in side-by-side comparisons."

Maybe some of the people voting were viewing the tv from an angle and that's why they gave it a lower score? Thanks for the input guys, I think I'll get the 55" LH90, so I can have better picture quality and a bigger screen.

I'm also thinking about getting the 47" LE8500, but it's a few hundred more so I don't know. Also, I heard on the LE8500 you can see the lines where the zones end and I would hate that.
