Just got a UN60C6300, it's marked DB02 made in February 2011. Service menu I tried two methods to access, nothing happened, but I may not be doing it correctly, will look around some more on the subject.

Initially some fairly obvious corner light, had some clouding in the middle. First time I watched at night thought this is going back for sure until I wiped the screen down thinking it might have been something on the screen then a good deal of that went away (before reading the forums not really recommending that while on particularly, oh well). Further tweaking the picture in various ways seems to have taken it to a more tolerabble level.

It's such a gorgeous picture for the most part, still deciding if the little bit of clouding/flashlighting now is a return/exchange worthy issue (and coming home again during the day and missing several hours of work). Seeing the flashlighting/clouding mostly only at night in the darkest of scenes with some content (and not others, guess it depends on factors inherent in the source black background), although have seen the light leak through a bit in the corners on other than black scenes a little bit here and there.

I did convince myself to get this tv as the old Hitachi 60" rear projection unit I had had always visibble color splotches and was hoping to get a pure black background as I do watch in the dark for the most part and it does bug me a bit.

So where's DB02 from?

"I realize that somebody playing free music isn't as commercial as a hamburger stand. But is it because you can eat a hamburger and hold it in your hand and you can't do that with music? Is it too free to control?" - Don Van Vliet (aka Captain Beefheart) discussing commercial success in the music biz

Its my understanding that Sharp was the only manufacturer
of 60" LCD panels in 2010. The panels were identified as
FBxx so I assume DB02 is another Sharp panel.
Whether a FB panel is different from a DB panel is anyones guess.

The following information should be collected below.

1) Version sticker on the back can read as follows:

Version "A" panels: AC01, AC02, AC03, AC04, AA01, AA02, AA03, AA04 and BA01 all come from AU Optronics.
Version "S" panels: SQ01, SQ02, SQ03, SQ04, SS01, SS02, SS03, SS04 and SX03 are made by Samsung.
Version "C" panels: CN01, CN02, BN01 and BN02 stand for CMO.
Version "H" panels: H305, H306, H308, unclear what these are, but so far they seem to be made by Samsung (data pending).

2) Enter the Service Menu to find your "Type", which should match up with what is here (be careful, just look, don't do anything else):

55A1UF0E
A panel manufacturer (A = Samsung; D = CMO; L = AUO; I = CPT)
1 frequency (6 = 50/60 Hz; 1 = 100/120 Hz; 2 = 200/240 Hz)
U panel (A = AntiGlare; T = TN; U = Ultra Clear)
F resolution (F = Full HD; H = HD; U = UD)
0 1st, 2nd panel and so on (1st = 0; 2nd = 1 ...)
C backlight unit (C = CCFL; L = LED; E = Edge LED)

Post in the following format:

Version No: H306
MFD: September 2010
Type: 55A1UF0E
A panel manufacturer (A = Samsung; D = CMO; L = AUO; I = CPT)

This is strange because the back of my tv says F301 and the service menu under type says: 60H2UF7E

That's where I purchased mine as well, I believe from reading above that we have Sharp made panels??

I have slight flash lighting in the bottom left and right corners but not very noticeable and only when the panel is first turned on, how about yours?

I was going to take mine back and get the 55" D8000 because of the micro dimming plus and the higher resolution but I'm not sure.....?

I recently bought UA40D5000 from Thailand. The version number on the back sticker says HQ13 and the service menu says 40A6UF0E. The manufacture date is Feb 2012.

I was of the impression that the version codes referred to production chanages in the electronic circuitry rather than the panel itself however you may be right that they also made changes in what panel went into the set as well.

Hi all. Here's a newer panel version for you guys. The box shows Version US02. The Manufacture date is 10-2012. The Service Menu shows 46A2UF0E. I assume this is a Samsung Panel based on the service menu information. The TV is a UN46ES7100F. Anybody else heard of a US02 panel type? I got only clueless people when inquiring at the samsung support live chat area when asking about this panel being a S-PVA type.

Also, is there a way to exit the service menu without resetting some of calibration settings? I don't know any way except to just turn off the TV. I did NOT make any changes or click on any other menu except viewing the default screen when entering this menu. After turning the TV off to exit, I had to put most of my settings back. Good thing I wrote them down first. Could I have messed up anything else? It seems that my documented settings still hold true after re-programming them back in which I am very glad of. Regards, Mike

What is the tv model? you have europe tv, so it begins with UExxExxxxx
Version no. 01 is a Samsung panel, so choose xxAxxFxx.
My tv is UE40EH6030 version no 01, panel 40A1AF0L.

thanks for a quick response!

my tv is samsung ue46es5500.
so pure 01 (without any letter) on the version sticker at the back means that this is a samsung's model?smile.gif

Hi AVS,

I just received a UN37EH5000 from Amazon, rolling the dice to see what they'd send me and it's a AS01. Amazon's easy TV returns will pay for return shipping, and I have not cracked the seal on the box. However, I don't yet have a better alternative. I live north of Denver, Colorado and haven't found a shop with anything other than 37" AS01 in stock. Also, truth be told, I'm not a videophile by any stretch, however am a photographer so understand color formats and whatnot. When I visited the local best buy they had 32" TS01 and 37" AS01 and honestly I didn't find much difference in a short visit. My basis of comparison was just contrast for off-angle viewing - and I forgot to look for blacks.

What do y'all suggest?

Find Panel Type online BEFORE you buy.

The link below is an example of a search on searspartsdirect: using UN55ES

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/un55es

The panel types are listed as the last four items in the model code.

Use this to search:

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

My advice, list first four items in Samsung HDTV model code for search.

To clarify it's a new 65F6300. Made April 2013. Got it from Samsung directly as a replacement for my 2007 DLP that was covered under a faulty power board class action settlement.

I'm guessing MS01 may be a Samsung panel, but would be nice for confirmation and a listing for the Samsung panels for 2013.

Well whatever it is the off-angle viewing is TERRIBLE!!! It's a 65 inch and 8.5 feet back looking dead on I can see fading on the last couple of inches of the edges.

All Samsung's are terrible in that regard, in my opinion. PVA/MVA just sucks if you're off-center. I'm sure the 7 and 8 series are better than my F6400, but I'm amazed they can charge $1500+ for a TV you can only see the benefits of from dead center. I'll never again buy anything but IPS for a computer monitor. But for a large TV, options are limited...and at that size, IPS panels are worse at other things, so it depends on whats more important to you.

I can tell you that having a Samsung PVA vs. other-vendor MVA did make a difference in viewing angle, but not much. As far as I'm concerned, Samsung shouldn't be using multiple different panels in the same model LED/LCD. Its ******** that you'd make a decision about something that expensive based on the model you see in the store, and then get it home to find out its not even the same thing. I can't believe they've stayed in business this long doing that...

MS01 might not even be a S-PVA, you could check the panel code in the SM to be sure (A means Samsung in the SM)

I've found that putting BLACK TONE to DARKEST ist the only way to take care of the black levels/poor off angle viewing. I understand that it may crush the blacks a bit but in some cases it also revels detail that otherwise would be washed out.

you probably have the AUO A-MVA panel, which has a much more limited viewing angle with blacks washing out much worse than a S-LCD S-PVA (if it's not a A-MVA than its a CMI S-MVA, which is even worse in these two areas with the added issue of purplish blacks off-axis)

also, instead of using black tone or lowering brightness, you can lower the gamma setting to -1 or -2
