Hello everyone,
I have a question about connecting my playstation 3 to a LG tv (lg37le5300) using lg's simplink connectivity through hdmi

I have seen people say in other forums that it is possible to do, but when I connect my ps3 to the LG tv, the tv doesn't show the ps3 as a connected device.

The control for HDMI is "ON" in the ps3.

Did you also activate control for hdmi on the LG tv?
Is the HDMI cable connected on the "arc" input (usually the first hdmi input)?

Yes the control for hdmi in the LG tv, which is the simplink is turned on.

Also my LG tv has 4 hdmi inputs and I tried 2 inputs. 4th one and the 1st one.
Didn't work for both.

I couldn't figure it out either between my PS3 slim and LG 47LH85.

Made sure it's enabled on in both the PS3 and the tv. Tried multiple inputs including HDMi 1.

I'm thinking LG Simplink works better with LG branded devices only.

I may try a different HDMI cable when i have one available.

Yeah, that's what I would too

I chat with LG technical support and they say it only works with LG branded products.
But isn't "simplink" a variety of the HDMI-CEC standard?
And I have seen some people from other forums say it is possible to link while others say it's not.

I hope it can be done.
Let me know if yours worked

It is.... but that's assuming LG tests and has any interest in making sure they are fully complying with the standard. They only care about their own branded devices.

I know the Panasonic HDMI-CEC implementation does work with the PS3 from various reports i've read. Some MFRs care more than others.
