looks like samsung has some serious competition

quote from kevin miller "TweakTV Co-Founder" from a different site

"HI All,

I can assure avjunkie and all of you that both the Sharp Elite and the Pioneer PRO-151FD were both calibrated to my best ability. Obviously the photograph did not capture the Pioneer accurately. I would say the flash washed out the picture. The Sharp's black level simply blows the Pioneer away, and I am not surprised by that as full array backlighting with Local Area Dimming technology has come a long way in the last year. As for off angle viewing it is still an issue, but it is not nearly as bad as on many other LED panels I have tested. I really can't say any more than that without violating my promise to Sharp. I will cover all of the performance parameters in my review, which will be posted on tweaktv if not Thurs Aug 4 then definitely Friday Aug 5 after the embargo. We will then link back to my section here for discussion, and a few days later I will publish it in its entirety here as well. "

Any news on the un75d9500? Like Actual release date in august Cus it's almost mid of the month.

And is pricing going to be readjusted to a sane one considering it's still just an edge lit of which you can get a sharp 70" for $2300 and far superior to the samsung I'm the sharp 70" X5 elite model for $8,500 so samsungs inferior problem prone (flashlighting, worst viewing angle of any tv etc) should be around the same price (only cus it's 5" bigger if that warrants the price) or less.

There is a post on another thread that the 75" Samsung has been cancelled for this year.

"Samsung is very aware that there are many customers that have been waiting for the launch, however we sincerely regret to inform you that the 75 LED, 75D9500 will not launch this year due to technical issues."

Can anyone recommend a swiveling, titling wall mount bracket for the UN40D6000S? I can't tell what type of mounting it accepts.

Google Sanus mounts. They make some good stuff that's compatible with all Samsung tv's.

It's really amusing to read all the posts about flashlighting effects; calling them horrible, unwatchable, etc. To me, they are not near as bad as people make them seem.

I know very few people may want to admit it since the D8000s are one of the best Samsung as to offer; but has anyone noticed the LED checkerboard effect when watching scenes movie scenes from outerspace showing a bunch of stars in the background (in a dark room and backlight turned up). It seems like no matter where you put the LEDs, you will see a flashlight effect under those circumstances; just with backlit displays, you get to see LEDs all over the screen instead of just the corners. I have seen this effect on a few reputable fully backlit LED TVs. It personally doesnt bother me that much, but can't help but notice.

Can your HTPC Media Center / DVR Do this??

SageTV: Unrestricted full-quality 12 tuner HD Premium Cable recording, including "On Demand" in HD + OTA ATSC + DVB-S2 + Blu-ray/HD-DVD serving 5 clients.

Are there any D6900 oeners out there. Do you think the D6900's micro dimming and higher contrast ratio provide a better image than the D6420? Was it worth the extra $500 to get the D6900?

I owned the 6420, returned it cause of flashlighting, then got a 6900 thinking the micro dimming would help with flashlighting but it didn't, so I returned that one too for a Sony. In my opinion the micro dimmimg made little to no difference.

I bought the C6900 about 10 months ago and it is great. I see no flashlighting. On the other hand, I do not watch television under wartime blackout conditions.

Compare the C6500 thread with the C6900 thread and you will see a great difference. The first year version of the 6900 dimming was a wonderful improvement. Must be even better this year.

I am trying to decide between a few different LCDs and need some advice. I am looking for a 60 inch LED LCDs. The three models I have been looking at are

-Samsung UN60D6000
-Samsung UN60D6500
-Samsung UN60D7000
-Samsung UN60D8000

I realize that the 7000 model is supposed to be an upgrade over the 6000. However, I went to a store showroom to compare the three. For some reason the picture on the 7000 and 8000 seemed a lot duller than and not as sharp as the picture on the 6000. Is this my imagination or have other people found the same thing? Any advice would be very helpful. I really don't care about 3D so could go either way.

Costco has the 6450 with 3d blu ray player and 3d glasses for $2089 plus tax.
Best buy has the same deal but for the 7000 model for $2699.
Is the 7000 worth paying an extra 600 dollars?
Would appreciate your comments.

Here is an interesting post on Ben's Bargains - http://bensbargains.net/search/un60d7000/?sr=1. Also go to fatwallet and search on UN60d7000 for an Amazon deal. Good luck.

I got this as a warranty replacement for my LN46A850. It has developed what I'd describe as "bands" down the screen only in certain lighting conditions. I noticed it the most last night playing PS3 Uncharted 3. I've also noticed it when watching movies occasionally on my DirecTV HR24.

I've attached screenshots for your review. I've had the TV just over 90 days but did re-up the Sears warranty which paid for itself very much the last time.

Review the pictures to see the banding I'm seeing. Thoughts of what I should do?
