This is not a battle between brands, rather a direct comparison between these two TV's.

I have had the Samsung and loved it, however for Christmas I got a Sony Bravia and from the spec sheet it seemed like a better TV, but after having the Sony up I am not sure which one is the better TV. I am getting rid of one soon, so I need to know which one to keep.

The Samsung: Never had any issues really with motion blur, picture was crisp & clear. Transparent menu's did not blur/blend/break apart. Sound was good, never had issues from the speakers.

The Sony: Looks like a clear picture, however it is noticeably darker than the Samsung, and even with the backlight full, the Sony still seems too dark, and the brightness adjustment doesn't bring it much brighter. It seems like its almost "half illuminated" compared to the Samsung or even my LCD dell monitor. Also, when the PS3 is plugged in, some of the transparent menu's will have "text blur/drag" when moving, like in my poker or Gran Turismo game, there are menu's that have transparency, so when the game is moving behind the menu, the text on the menu starts blurring side to side and dragging causing a "break apart" effect, it is something that did not happen with the Samsung. On top of that, the Sony built in speakers sound like there is a pillow over them, and when a loud deep sound is generated I get a vibrating sound/rattle from the TV.

So as you can see, I have concerns about the Sony, but I think with a surround sound setup, and picture adjustment/calibration, the Sony may be the better TV, however I need help, so can someone experienced take a look at both links and help me decipher which TV will be the better choice?

Choose the one that you know you will be pleased with.
I know both sets have their own pros and cons and they are great sets after all, but it shouldn't be up to use to decide on your behalf.

Going from your description, it seems like you like Samsung more so than the Sony. That's fine.

HOWEVER, here is my observations
- I own the EX as well, and a B650. Overall I am pleased with both but I have had more pros on the EX moreso than my B650. So it's really a matter of preference! In my personal humble opinion, I would keep the Sony EX500 simply because it does offer excellent PQ performance, gaming performance, and quality.

See I am not dissatisfied with the Sony, I actually prefer the Sony, however I noticed that speaker noise which has now gone away with more use.

I just want to make sure I make the right choice (technically speaking) because you can look at both spec sheets and see which TV offers better specs, you know what I am saying?
