Well i think you're friend may be wrong, im not saying he is totally wrong but I have reason to believe he is wrong about the sizes because the LG website only shows 47 and 55" for the LW9500 and LG announced at the CES their lineup and there was only one tv that will be bigger than 55" outside of the plasma series and that will be the 72" LZ9700 model. On the plasma side there will be 50" and 60" tv's.

Thanks for the clarification. I could really use the 47" more than the 55" one based on the room size I need it for. Much cheaper that way too.

EDIT: Are you maybe in the UK?

So I am understanding that the below:

http://www.lg.com/us/tv-audio-video/...v-60LW9500.jsp

And:

http://www.amazon.com/LG-Infinia-60L.../dp/B004OVEVPG

Are untrue? I know both state dynamic 3d when LG has made the switch to Cinema 3d but where has it been stated there would be no 60" Lw9500? LG has had very disjointed marketing since their decision to go passive on all LCD/LED tv's this year mid marketing. Same goes for the lw7700 series which is an unknown today.

Well since you've actually got a link to a lw9500 for a 60" on LG's website, then there is a possibility of that size coming out. Oddly enough I don't see that on the list of LG tv's on their website. Weird tho.

I'm from Canada too, Toronto to be exact. I went to the LG site and they had the LW9500 at 55" along with a 47" one. However, the 47" one shows a 60" screen size. Confusing me...lol.

I'm wondering when we'll get more details on the LW7700 replacement. This was the TV I was targeting for this year. I want to see and get a TV with their new Nano technology but without having to play the ultimate premium on the LW9500 series. The LW7700 sounds like a good compromise of feature and possible pricing.

Desapointed but relieve about the new of the models being change to switch to passive 3D. I think Passive is the logical step to get 3D into more household as it cut cost down significally on the glasses. From reports so far, the drop in resolution is not really noticeable so most customer won't notice it. It also make watching 3D easier on the Eye. I wouldn't be suprised if the other brands switch to passive next year as well.

According to the lg us website of the 55LW9500 and the 60, they are still active. They also state it in the spec sheets that you can download.

Downloadable user manual for the 55LW9500 now doesnt say wether you get any glasses at all.

They say the active ones come with the plasma models under that section, but the passive glasses are under the lw9500 section but the glasses say it is only for the OUT NOW passive tv's 5600, 6500, 5700.

.....?

If the rumors are true, this is some outdated information as it seems the LW9500 will be switch over to passive 3D glasses. The model might even be renamed. Now there may be some small quantity of that set available in the world so maybe they decided to keep the informaton up on their website because they may have sold some of them already? Of course, this is just assumption from my part, we don't know yet what will happen except reports that both the LW7700 and LW9500 are being modified/replaced with models that uses passive 3D technology instead of active.

I was interested in the 7700 over the 9500 just because I'd read that the 7700 would be matte and the 9500 would be glossy. If the 7700 has been canceled altogether, I certainly hope it is replaced with another matte panel with local dimming. I want 3D, but I don't really care wether it's active or passive as I don't plan to use the 3D very much.

Well, I read somewhere a bit back that the 9500 will have a better AR coating on the screen. Which, if it works, would make it get really great blacks.

It is wierd that LG has "sites" up (even though you can't get to them without actually knowing the URL) for the 55LW9500 and the 60LW9500.

Which I find really strange is that a few weeks ago Amazon had the 55LW9500 on sale for a couple hundred less. What are they promising with that? And the 60LW9500 that they have up on their site?

LG should get their act together and officially announce what is coming out and when. With all this confusion, and other companies ahead in the release of 2011 models, it would seem they are going to lose sales. The Sony HX929 models are coming very soon. For me, the LG nano line is tempting, but since I have no idea what they are releasing, or when, I might give the Sony a try, and if I like it, my money goes to them. If LG just announced specifically what and when, I might wait....but the confusion is annoying and I will likely just try the Sony.

I've been thinking the exact same thoughts too. LG will definitely lose out on sales if they don't get their act together. Heck, it seems even their own customer service reps are totally confused because everyone who has talked to a rep has been given a different date! I have the LW9500 #1 in my wishlist and Sony's HX929 #2 and I'm planning on purchasing a new tv over the next couple of months. I like the idea of the nano technology and what its supposed to do (help give it full array but also keeps the tv pretty slim and give it more zones, etc) along with the passive 3D.

Actually none of those are correct. The nano tech is a screen that goes over the leds that is there to improve picture quality. Specifically the banding issue, then the blooming.

Nano tech doesnt change the size of the leds (which would result to a slimmer screen and possibly more zones.)

Although I am not sure if the full array tvs have staggered LED's in them with out the nano-tech.

Today (21 april) LG will be launching the Cinema 3D tv lineup in Paris.
This should be the world-wide launch of the new 2011 lineup

I hope more information will be released soon.

A usefull link: http://lgcinema3d-grandpalais.com/

(And after reading it myself...)

The lineup looks like it only contains: LW650S, LW570S, LW5500 and LW4500 all in max 55"

1. According to the 2010 Owners Manual for the LV & LW series of TV's these sets allows separate memories of OTA and CATV channels without loosing one or the other when a different channel scan is done.
2. These "SmartTV's" are basically sets with Internet "apps" or does that include something else?
3. This "Magic Motion" remote, is basically a pointing device for on screen Icons?

Can anyone confirm or deny the above?

Lastly, any update on these "Nano" TV's with the supposed improved LED backlighting other than what was here?;
http://ces.cnet.com/8301-32254_1-20025663-283.html

Abundant OTA television is what makes this country different from all others. Lets keep it this way.
The Internet is no place for streaming video.

as of right now nothing is certain other than the tvs that are out.

Smart Tv is like a simple OS for the TV. allowing browsing and apps on the TV.

The magic motion remote is like a controller for the Wii but for the TV.

you can use it for other things thatn just selecting icons.

Nano tech did make a recent appearance in the 55LEX8 that was recently released in some Euoropean markets to mixed reviews -

From Germany, for example -

9:52 AM Guest: Had a question about a product release date
9:54 AM Nelson: Sure.
9:54 AM Guest: I am trying to find out when the 55LW9500 will be realeased in the US.
9:54 AM Nelson: I understand the situation, I"ll be glad to help you with this.
9:55 AM Nelson: First thank you for your interest in our products we expect to have the tv at all of the stores that ordered it at the beginning of next month.

9:57 AM Guest: Really?
9:57 AM Guest: that is great news. there has been a lot of rumors that the TV will not be realeased this year.
9:59 AM Nelson: Not a problem.
10:00 AM Guest: Do you know of Cnet?
10:00 AM Nelson: Not familiar with the term.
10:00 AM Guest: Cnet.com

Why doesn't LG just release something official?
