We have to wait to find out what it will do with fast moving scenes.

I had the chance to try the LG LW5600 at the store. They were showing a movie in 3D and it was my first time trying out the passive VS the countless other active I've tried in store from various manufacturer.

First thing, I did notice the "lines" most people mentionned. But as other have reported, the further away from the screen you are, these lines aren't noticeable anymore. The picture was clear and no ghosting at all compare to some active. I like that you don't constantly have the "flickering" in your eyes that active shutter glasses do to you. Image looked clear to me so unless you have bot an active and a passive system right next to each other, it's hard to see if you loose details to the drop in resolution. Did notice some blur on fast moving objects but I don't know if it was the source, the TV (it's a lower end LG after all) or the 3D technology doing this.

I won't believe that. LG has maintained an August/September release date for the LW9500.

Bazzy!

The LZ9600s are nano tech, active 3D panels, employing SG tech over an RF link and are priced below their LEX8 counterparts -

My 60lw9500 just shipped from crutchfield.com. I ordered it a month ago and wasn't expecting it for months with all the drama after it went to passive from active. I was expecting a different model number as well since that's what I had been reading throughout the forums.

Crutchfield.com show both the 55 and 60 lw9500 in stock and amazon now shows both models shipping in 2-5 weeks. Amazon never mentioned a ship date in the past just an estimated time of arrival which was weeks out.

I'll keep you guys posted on what the heck shows up at my door

Amazing how they do that. The 60lw9500 never went into mass production. Anywhere. They did a limited run on the 55LW9500 for special purposes, according to the Reynosa people. Reynosa is a tough place. Maybe you will be getting a pre-production model. What is your ETA? Why did you post this to the UK forum?

This LG LW9500 comes in 60"? cool...
I was going to say I see three stores selling the 55" product online. I read the spec sheet on this TV at LG.com and this thread. This TV is a beast...

THX certified
ISFccc ready

I've been waiting on the 65LW6500, but I might be lured away by the 60LW9500. I really don't want to sacrifice the larger screen, so I guess it will come down to 2D quality and how positive reviews are for each.

Well, I just ordered the LG 55LW9500. Arrives May 19. I hope being an early adopter or ordering an early build doesn't bite me in the butt.

I currently have the Samsung 55D8000 and am not satisfied with handling of dark/black shots (I get banding).

Been waiting for it for a while now, was totally expecting not to see it until this Fall, but Crutchfield does indeed have them (and cheaper than Amazon). Here is my chat session before purchase, of course after me now there are only TWO (2) left in stock.

Andy.: Good morning and welcome to the Crutchfield sales chat service. My name is Andy. How can I help you today?

SIPPELMC: Hi Andy. Two quick questions. I noticed you have listed on your website the LG 55LW9500 TV as in stock. Can you confirm that? I have read reports that it is not released until later this summer.

SIPPELMC: Also, if it is in stock, I'm thinking about ordering it, and I just want to confirm it could be returned with the 30 day return policy (minus shipping costs) if it didn't meet my expectations (its a new set, no real reviews out yet).

SIPPELMC: Thanks!

Andy.: Yes, you'll be glad to know that I can confirm we have 3 units of the LG 55LW9500 currently in stock. Also, everything you purchase from Crutchfield comes with our unconditional, money back, Total Satisfaction Guarantee. You get a whole month (two months on items you purchase from our Crutchfield Signature store) to make sure you have the right equipment for your needs. You would be responsible for the return shipping (typically around $100) unless the TV arrived defective or damaged.

SIPPELMC: OK, great, thank you so much. I am going to get one fo the 3 left. Do you know why Crutchfield got stock where no other stores had? Just curious if there was a reason you got early realease of it (according to various web articles I've read)

Andy.: No, I dont have details on that. I can tell you we are an authorized dealer for LG and the other brands on our site and have a great relationship with LG, so maybe they shipped a few advance units of this model when it became available.

SIPPELMC: Great. Thanks Andy.

Anyone know if the LW9500 is glossy (like last years LX9500)? I know the 5600 is matte. I'm waiting to see what the 6500 & 9500 are. Thanks!

The Crutchfield site lists the 60LW9500 as passive, not active. Is that true or not true?

The LW9800 has a matte screen with nano. I'm waiting until August or so.

So have they now renamed the "passive" one LW9800 and kept the "active" one as LW9500? Are they essentially the same units minus the 3D tech display?

Very interesting. I'm guessing then that the LW9500/9800 is the same set but for different regions.

Mine is listed as glossy, passive, nano/full led backlit, and comes with 4 glasses. LG also lists the model as being glossy but also with some kind of anti-glare/reflection (dear lord I hope it isn't like the AG coating they put on their PC panels).

I am unaware of any 9800 model in NA. I think its a region thing b/c I see references to a 9800 model in EU.

I have to agree with forza and sippel, I think the 9500 is NA whereas the 9800 will be for EU. But hopefully we all find out soon enough in regards to what the 9800 is and what region(s) it will be available for along with the specs for it.

We have been repeatedly told that LG would not be shipping any Nano, Active 3D (Dynamic 3D) 2011 models in the US market, and that the Cinema 3D (FPR) Nano units would ship in their place in Q3. LG has also suggested that the Q3, Nano, Cinema 3D models could have different model name designations.

Yet, it has also been reported that a few retailers are selling limited quantities of the LW9500 series models as Passive 3D.

LG and some of their resellers have left us confused, and owe us a clarification.

Koo Bon-joon: Are you listening?

Totally agree. How effing hard is it for LG to have a press release stating what is really going on.

Hi,

C'mon, it wouldn't be LG if it did that! Seriously though, I think that one of the reasons these companies do not engage in such "common sense/courtesy" things is that they are primarily interested in shifting as much existing stock as possible before making any sort of statements - they do not want to stagnate existing sales & give people any reason to delay purchase!

Great point. At the same time though, there are a lot of informed customers and enthusiasts that wait for the flagship models. I have no allegiance to any company but at the same time LG can lose out potential sales to Sony and their 929 if they sit quiet and say nothing about the LW9500.

These models were submitted by LG to the Wi-Fi Alliance web site - www.wi-fi.org, and have been wi-fi certified. I will take a shot at this.
