Ah, no 3D, hence the discount. IMO, the best value for money that you can get. In fact, I've seen some advertised for $2200. If only it were matte instead of the monolithic glass front.

LG 55LHX. There are still a few out there around that same 2K price. I got one a few months ago and the dedicated thread on this set here shows that some AVS member buys one every week or two. Spectacular picture with Kuro-level blacks and matte screen. No 3-D however, if that's important to you.

The 55LH95QD (55LHX) doesn't appear to be available anymore in Australia.

From the FCC photo, it appeared that the 72LZ97000 has a matte LCM. However, its covered with a glass front.

So I happened to be at JB HiFi Chadstone today and believe it or not, they had the 55LW9500 in stock!
I can confirm no 3D at all, $2598 ticket price.

The biggest bummer of all.... It's a glossy screen!
Given my room is backlit by complete floor to ceiling glass, the whole point of my upgrade from the 50" plasma was to reduce the reflection.

Picture quality was quite good. They had this, the 55lw6500 and the Sony HX925. The Sony and LW6500 were side by side and the PQ was worlds apart. The LG had a lot of judder and being edge lit, the fine detail in blacks was almost completely lost. The Sony and LW9500 on the other hand had quite a lot of detail in the blacks, although there was still some judder on the LG's part. Admittedly the source material, while HD (Human Planet doco) was delivered over component and a multiplexer.

The other thing to note was that the sales guy, who in this case wa actually quite knowledgable (was able to definitively answer my questions and new the technologies involved) said that at least on their product list, there was no further models due to be released this year from LG.
Have to take that with a grain of salt of course.

Pics attached. Apologies for the angles, but that was my intention to gauge the reflection.

I just saw the spec sheet and the associated product pages for the LW9800 models on LG Canada's site.

While I'm excited to finally see some information on these new sets, I can't help but still feel a bit disappointed at the same time. I was hoping LG would extend the LW9800 lineup to include a 60" model like they had originally planned with the LW9500 series.

I don't suppose there has been anything leaked to possibly mention an upcoming 60 or 65" model, has there?

Even without 3D it's tremendous value for money. It can probably be had for several hundred less as well. The glass is a bummer indeed. But what high-end sets are not glossy these days? Glass can in a way be better than glossy film coating, which can appear warped. But then the air gap can produce internal reflections. (At least the Sony has transparent resin between the glass and the panel.)

Ok, I'm lost again! (big surprise, thanks LG! ) Does or will LG have any full nano LED sets that are going to be matte instead of all this glossy/high reflective stuff??

So this LW9800 will compete with the HX929 in 2D picture. I wonder which one will have a better PQ.

Ditto on the question regarding matte screen Nano tech sets. If the answer is "no", is the 55LHX the best alternative?

Wait... wut?

Is the above to state/speculate that LG will be adding a 60" version to their 9800 lineup?

And with "Korea" in brackets, are you stating it is currently being demoed in Korea? being readied for sale in Korea? possibly to come to North America at some point (maybe as the 60LW9800 or something)? before the end of this year perhaps?

Sorry for all the questions. I don't even know if you can answer any of them. I was sorta hoping LG would come out with a nice passive 3D 60" LED backlit set this year. Everything I've read up until this point said that the 60" was dropped when LG decided to retool the lineup for passive 3D tech. This would be the first ray of hope that the 60" may not actually be dead.

Beyond the Q3 release of the 47/55/LW9800s and LG's stated intention to release an FPR variant of the 72LZ9700, I have no further information. However, I did notice a 60" Korean model listed on the wi-fi certifications web site with a certificate date of 5/25/2011 --> 60LZ9800-NA

The takeaway - it looks like LG is planning to produce a 60" fpr nano model for the Korean market.

Just to clarify, that mean that our only option for full Nano LED and matte/low glare screen is the LHX line? (or the LH90 for a 47")

Only one model of LHX was made: 55".

Yup, that is why I mentioned the LH90. Supposedly it is just about as good as the LHX, but it doesn't have the super thin bezel with wireless box (but less zones ). It does come in 47" though.

Regardless, I was hoping for at least one of LG's new, high-end models to have a matte type screen.

OK... thanks for the info. While the outlook for a North American 60" nano FPR model isn't promising, I guess one can only continue to hope.

The 55LW9500 has been launched in Singapore -

(probably as a 2D-only model similar to the Australian launch)

LG needs to update the verbiage. Here's the clarification -

http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/sh....php?t=3274257

Note that LG has yet to produce a nano cinema 3D model in any market.

While the thread has taken the direction of only discussing the LED/3D TVs from LG, I registered to ask about the LK450. Does this TV have ARC on the HDMI?

In general, how good are LG TVs over Samsung? I was going to buy the LN40D550 Samsung until Samsung's latest firmware update to the BD-P1600 bluray player made it where it won't play bluray discs, and you can't roll back the firmware anymore. (and Samsung's history of bad, buggy firmware updates made me decide no more Samsung stuff)

I did buy LG's BD630 Bluray player. Very fast and responsive and loads blurays very fast. That old Samsung of mine was always slow loading blurays.

For a change of pace away from high end LG's, we're loking for a smaller size 37" television with a matte, LED panel for our den, where a medium sized room with lots of windows dictates the choice. LG's new 37VL3500 seems to fit the bill for a unit without folderol: no 3D, apps, browser etc. just straight ahead good & true picture for occasional use. Around $600. Does anyone out there have any knowlede of this unit and could give us some useful input? Might one expect an S-ISP panel? Thomas

Looks about right. I remember a video that someone linked of the 480Hz panel and a 240Hz next to it. The video camera was picking up the flickering of the 480Hz panel.

Hi All,

Apologies if this has been addressed before but does anyone know if LG will be launching any 65" 3D Nano sets in NA/Europe/UK? I cannot find anything & it looks that the biggest LG offer is 55" (with the exception of the upcoming 72").

With Sony, Samsung, Panasonic etc all offering sets at the 65" mark, I was kinda hoping LG would as well with the Nano sets!
