I presume that was also the case for every other set displaying the same material. Also I don't think they would have bothered with tweaking any settings i.e. everything probably running with default "store-mode" settings.

Haha - seeing as how the LX went for something like $4500, I'd say you are dreamin with mid 2's and probably even 3's (list price anyway). LG is awfully proud of their top of the line sets.

Speaking of screen uniformity Lg said nanoled uniformity is 99%.
This could translate into clearer whites, gorgeous reds, perfect greens etc when you are watching a screen pattern of one colour for example during a tv spot or a game intro.

What do you think of this? Can you find between your movies or games something to show nanoled uniformity and make some photos ?

I see no flashlighting and only blooming. But where there should not be light there is no light. Only leaked from lighter areas of the screen (bloom).

@ Tapioca

I hope you can find a red screen or something else to show us nanoled uniformity

This is a weak point of samsung d8000, this is very important.

Well back on page 5 I think it said $3999.99 for the 55LW9500, so I imagine that would be the same for LW9800 (of course retail stores will mark it down). I'm hoping to maybe snag the 47" at Best Buy for around $2500 (if these things ever come out, lol!)

I was just thinking, though, that the prices on the top of the line Sony HX929s, Samsung D8000s, and Panasonic VT30s are gonna be a bit lower than they are now by the time the LG Nano's make their way into stores...so if LG wants to compete with the other big boys they're gonna have to have some sexy prices. And hell, with the other top of the line big boys on shelves NOW, folks aren't going to wait for LG forever. I'm kind of itching right now to pull the trigger on the Sony 46HX929 or 46NX720 or the Samsung 46D7000, but I'm still holding out hope that the 47LW9800 will be competitively priced (especially now that it's looking like the 7700/possible 7800 series got the ax).

Is there a 65" or 72" announced or even rumored for the 9800 series?

Oh I'm just guessing about the 7700 because there's been no mention of a new version of it, only 9500/9800. There were rumors that there would be a sort of 7800, but if you check out the UK AVForums, a guy from LG states that (in the UK at least) there'll only be an LW980T (UK version of 9800) but not an LW780T (which would be 7800 here).

May I ask what were you're reasons for getting rid of the LW6500? I'm looking long and hard at the 65LW6500 but even with the lower online prices I'm still hesitant to drop that kind of money right now. I don't need the set until Sept. and am hoping to see more reviews/owners opinions etc. before purchasing. Any Info. will be appreciated.

I am having the same exact issue (except I need/want a tv now.) My problem is I have painted myself into a pretty slim corner. I am looking for a tv with a matte screen (or has a very good anti reflective coating as I have a large window right next to the tv which glows even when the shade is closed) I need it to have pretty good viewing angles, and I absolutely abhor flashlighting/clouding as I will be watching my tv in near darkness 85% of the time. I also really don't want to spend more than around $2000 for a 55" set. That pretty much leaves me with no options in the current market. Prices on sets that have these qualifications are out of my range so I am left questioning if I take the $1500 hit and suck it up and get a LW5600 for the time being. I was holding out for a LW7700, but it seems like I won't be seeing that model or anything similar any time soon. If I wasn't so terrified of the reflection, I would pick up a Plasma in a second. I guess I could get one from Amazon and return it if the reflection is a serious problem but that seems like such a pain in the ass.

This tv does have a cloudiness issue, I sold this tv to my brother and he loves it! ! The 3d experience is amazing. But if you're interested in getting the 65 inch you might want to read the official owners thread...apparently there is a ghosting issue . Good luck.

"Uniformity" Like cloudiness in parts? I thought the black would represent this. I'm really busy these days, but i'll try to give it my best shot.

Perhaps you could explain the uniformity issue to me.

Thanks for your patience,

PS @ everyone thinking about the 5600-6500 try not to make the mistake I made. If you're on this particular thread then you care about picture quality more so than others. Edge-lit is terrible, it really is. The price and size is right on those TV's (3D great too), but I'm giving fair warning: I had the 5700 (the korean equivalent of the 5600 but with 240 Hz). The balck levels on that thing were appalling. This is directed to those who care about these "things". If you have an untrained eye for uniformity issues, cloudiness, backlight bleed etc. then go for it.

Hey Cold.. l mentioned earlier your amazing photography.and want to ask everyone with mura, glowing corners and cloudy issues. ( no disrespect) go back and reviews tapioca's amazing, excellent pictures... question? Does this movie depicted have letterboxing? I can't see where the picture meets the bars or bezel or even your background wall .. amazing do you guys see the stars the shadow detail in the gamma coming out of black? In your few pics I see the vivid pop, color and black, with detail I love with the samsung.. this I would like with passive 3d ..I see no edge glow I can't decern where the picture ends and the bars, bezel or wall begins just inky black.. no wonder your so excited .. is the movie experience all in all similar to your photography? I think lg should pay you advertising Fees or a free set and use your pics as a reference.. thank you again for sharng your excitement and passion for this set. If the one they end up releasing in the states has these values already mentioned and passive 3d lm sold. Not being a videophlle or one to stare at grey or black screens l really have to say I loved the lw5600. Can't even imagine one with the blacks, vivid color and "pop" your set has tapioca. :-D thank you again for your review and your time.. amazing.

Tapioca, guys my mistake I guess I was so blown away by the photography and blacks to contrast. I didn't notice the pause icon. Guess l got excited .. really magnified colds image and now I do see a color difference or shift close to the pause icon.. I still don't see where it ruins the picture but we all have perceptual standards and l should,nt demean others although there was no intent but ..there is a glow there. So pardon my condescending referal to review tapioca's , to me, excellent amazing photos.

Clouding is the #1 reason, I returned 3 TV last year. I tried a LED and LCD and all had pretty bad clouding. My condition are hard for this since It's a TV in my basement and I mostly watch it at night, often with no lights on.

That's the reason I'm looking for a full led backlit set (with minimal input lag for videogames). Right now, if we forget input lag for a second, There are 3 potential TVs I am looking for. First was the LG LW7700 which seems to have been canned by LG completely (no news on a 3D passive version like they are doing with the LW9800), I guess the LW9800 could then be a model I will consider. Sony HX929 is another one and finally, Sharp new LE935 when it releases.

LG and Sharp traditionnal, espicially Sharp, are known for low input lag. I am crossing my finguers that LG won't let me down on that specific model. Maybe Tapioca, if you do play game (xbox 360 or PS3), could put the TV in game mode and tell us if you feel input lag?

I would also be curious to see what the PQ looks like in game mode. Usually, in game mode, the TV will disable some of its features that process the picture to make it look good to gain some speed and reduce input lag. I'd like to see if the PQ suffer a lot in game mode or not.

these pics look good but doesn't there seem to be a crispness sharpness missing?

LG said sometime in Q3, so probably August or September.

I'm starting to see the question some of you are asking. "Glow" form the corners when watching a wide screen movie. ie: "The black bars". Once again there is no glow. None. The only light leaked into those bars is the blooming from the movie image. Much like the new cnet review of the Sony HX929 (a smoking TV). Once again, on the 929 the only light in the black bar area is from a bloom from the movie picture. This is what I couldn't stand about the LW5700 I had. The black bars would have a glow of yellow light protruding from the bezel. I'll post more pics tonight. Maybe Dark Knight? Any other requests? I will also try to use a red screen and get some uniformity pics. Maybe the color adjustment screen or something. Any ideas for a movie witha red screen? (I think A Clockwork Orange may have one at the beginning)

Also, with the PS3 pause symbol you do get a fair bit of bloom. I think it is right in the middle of 4 zones. On my previous screen shots of Wall-E I had the backlight turned way down. In those screens there are "black bars". It's a wider aspect ratio and not full screen, and as you can see, other than the pause symbol, there is no light leakage in the corners.

However, do note the off angle blooming on this set is quite atrocious. You really do get a dreamy effect even at slightly off center. Maybe i can post those too.

Also, I thought I read that someone wanted me to test gaming lag. To answer the question I'm a HUGE GAMER. My problem is that I'm one of those people ignorant in that area. I don't notice it. I gave it a test the other day on Battlefield Bag Company 2. I would take a single shot with my gun. But I don't notice any. I didn't really notice any on my LW5700 and many others said the lag there was horrible. I don't have guitar hero nor any lag test equipment. Does anyone know a way I can easily test this? Would like to know. Maybe it's why I suck so hard at COD online (man, I hate that game). ^^

I took pictures in bright scenes so that you see bloom. In the first pic, over the Joker's right shoulder you will see a light crossing directly on the wide aspect ratio black bar. You can see bloom in this pic here. Also, I put in some Transformers pics. Optimus just looks so damn good with those bright blues and reds. You may see some bloom in the black bars here as well. However, it's minimal and not a big disturbance.

The last thing I want to mention is that these settings are not my normal movie settings but my game settings. They include a high backlight setting of 55/100 and higher sharpness stting at 60/100. I did this to emphasize bloom and other issues. i really don't see anything too horrible.

Sorry I got to do another post after this too. My bad, I'm not good at downsizing these photos.

Awesome shots! I don't think the blooming is bad at all. How much did that set run you?
