Before I decided to go for a bigger screen size I bought 4 days ago, 3D plasma 720p samsung 50inch tv. I sit 12 feet away, too small, not enough 3D, 720p, returned it. I decided to go for bigger.

My price range is maximum $1299. I dont know what to do though.
I see 60inch LCD 1080p 120hz or 240hz for $1299 pretty often, and I also see 55inch LED 240hz 1080p for same price of $1299.

When I go bigger, I wanted to go like MUCH bigger so I can notice huge difference between 50 vs 60. But at the same time I want the qualitys too, like especially eye popping color.
(example: neon green glass color instead of just green)

Im not sure what to do, I really like the LED, but at the same time I want to go for a big screen size.

You know when you go to best buy and they have blu ray demo, and its so realestic it looks like a documentary or the movie was taken at the set? I want that effect especially for cartoon movies, or sports.

Anyway help is appreciated, thanks

yes. I just went from a 55" to a 60". A 60" immerses you. It's wonderful.

I'm a plasma guy so I cant comment on the PQ, but maybe this will help about the size.

http://www.displaywars.com/50-inch-16x9-vs-60-inch-16x9

"In comparison to a 60 inch 16x9 TV a 50 inch 16x9 is...

17% smaller diagonally and 31% smaller by area as a 16x9 display."

i see, any other suggestion on what you would do if you were in my case?

Would you go for 55inch LED or 60inch LCD when sitting 12 feet away. Size vs quality

Any reason why you are not considering plasma? (just curious, not trying to start another plasma vs LCD vs led war)

Again, you didn't mention brand names or model numbers, so I don't see how we can answer without knowing what specifically you considering. Making a blanket assumption that an LED/LCD is automatically "better" than a CCFL/LCD is total hogwash. There are many quality CCFL/LCDs so you really don't need to worry if you want a 60" TV.

Well I only owned the plasma's for the past 4 years, but I dont think plasma's give that...you know when you are at best buy..they have blu ray demos and things look fake because it looks so realstic? on those 120hz or 240hz tv's.
I have owned regular panasonic 720p 60hz tv, and samsung 3D 720p 600hz 3D. But I dont think I just had that feel on those 2 tv's like the ones in the display. Ended up returning the samsung 3D though, because I wanted bigger tv, and 3D was not that great to start off anyways.

Sorry yes I know I should have model numbers. But I just seen some LG, Sony 60 inch LCD on sale for $1299 at frys here and there along with plasma, and also LED of Sony and LG 55inch $1299 at frys.

If there is a good deal tomorrow at frys, I will post up the model numbers

Go for the biggest screen you can afford. If you have any kind of windows in your viewing area, you don't want plasma.

okay guys hot news.
Finally tv i wanted both are on sale suprisingly. Please help me decide!!!!

LED $1199 LG
http://www.amazon.com/LG-55LE5400-55...88GKQ2T7KQMMVH

LCD 60inch $1299
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-BRAVIA-KD...5044520&sr=1-5

I have nissan rogue, so seeing how 50inch fit there almost bearly, i might need to remove the box for 55 inch and just carry it home with just tv and box next to it.

60inch not sure if it will fit even if its out side of the box, so shipping is i think extra
+100 dollar. Please help me decide, I sit 12 feet away from the tv. And I use to have 50inch plasma 720p.

between the two tv, what will be the suprior picture quality?

I'd get the Sony 60". Borrow a truck (or bigger car) and save the $100.

Spec comparisons don't always tell the whole story. My vote is also for the Sony 60EX500.

That comparison chart you often link folks to (yours?) is a very nice reference, but not much more than that. For 1.3k, take the 60" Sony and don't look back...IMO

If you can get the 60 inch home without damaging it, that would be the way to go. Even if you have to pay for delivery, over time, you will appreciate every day getting the biggest panel you can afford.

When I go bigger, I wanted to go like MUCH bigger so I can notice huge difference between 50 vs 60. But at the same time I want the qualitys too, like especially eye popping color.
(example: neon green glass color instead of just green)>>>

Don't forget to set the tv to VIVID. That will give you the neon green grass.

AMAZING!!! (:

There are user settings for many panels on this Forum, some from people who have a lot of experience with settings.

I would probably write down the settings as they are from the factory for a reference. Then, if you can find, on this site, recommended settings derived at by others, you can try those settings.

Finally, you can simply try different settings and stop when you get the look you want. There is no right and wrong when it comes to brightness, contrast, color intensity and tint. If you want highly saturated color, you have every right to set your TV up that way.

It doesn't matter what anyone on this Forum thinks about your picture preferences.

If your sitting 12 feet away go 60.
The EX500 is a quality TV. You will enjoy it. If the LG is better(which I dont believe it is but lets continue) it will be maybe by a hair. You will never notice that but you WILL notic the 5" difference every time you turn on the TV.

Reason for my comment is so he won't get the idea that something is wrong with the tv and send it back. By setting it on Vivid...he will instantly achieve the results he mentioned.

I certainly could be wrong, however, my understanding is that LCD TVs come set in Vivid mode so the initial home experience is fairly close to what the consumer sees in the store.

But, if in the case of the OP, if it doesn't come set to Vivid, I agree with you that he should try that mode and see if it gives him the "eye popping color" he wants.

thank you guys, but i walked out on both models. I went to frys, but they said they dont carry tv thats 50inch in the store, so I have to pay 40 dollar extra shipping. I asked them do any other frys carry it, they said no I would have to get it from their main wearhouse as delievery, anyway the LCD was way way too thick then what I had in mind, it was like 4inch to 5 inch

decided to go see best buy to see whats up, but nothing there, so just went to costco deciding I will buy tv next week and just went to costco to buy some grocery, but suprisingly they had $1299 plasma 60inch LG pk540. I just went with that instead, and I love it very much.
Yes I am very glad I did not go with 55inch, 60inch was a blast for me. Thank you for your opinions guys.
