Safest bet for now is Sharp: basic 70" is good, high-end full locdim will be better. Rather unlikely LG will beat it. Pricewise there is no competition for Sharp.

Got it.

I would like to believe that Samsung and LG would continue to battle it out in our (re)developing country for best 2D PQ supremacy as they continue to force 3D tech upon us to grow the market. They plateaued with the introduction of the xxB8500 and 55LHX, respectively.

Samsung: Secret Tech
LG: IOL Tech

They can do it again. They can even take a loss to grow the value of their brand (maybe).

Also, LG needs to have a showroom in Manhattan, similar to Samsung's in the Time Warner building.

In any case, you would be ready to splurge on the LG 72" even if there is Sharp 70" for half the price with at least the same performance?

If the performance was equal to or better than my current 55LHX I would certainly consider it.

Yeah, and there are some people here questioning if there are buyers for $10K 72" TVs .

I mean, if they can't get a 55 inch set right - why expect anything different from the 75 inch set...

Ha!

I have four LCDs that I watch, 2 Sharps now going on 5 years old, 1 low end Toshiba and a Samsung 550.

Although the Samsung is newer than all the other sets, it is by far the lowest quality and most difficult to live with. Using an Xbox on each set it was startling how much better the sound/graphics were on the other older sets were. It was also amazing how much easier to adjust the other sets were compared to the Samsung, to many PQ adjustments means that you never can get anything quite right....

Yet there are people out there who literally worship Samsung.... don't know why.

I agree with you in regards to Samsung - I used to have 46A650, and I hated it like no other TV I ever owned.
I also have a 5 years old Sharp, and I remember how back then everybody was mad at Sharp about banding. But now when we have top of the line Samsungs with the same issue - it doesn't seem to be such a big deal anymore. Weird....

If only Sharp would drop the yellow sub-pixel to provide accurate colors.

Samsung has signed a deal with a company that will has a white sub-pixel technology.

Suddenly my 70LE732 seems small...

Kinda scared to see the side by side shots that are sure to come.

Sounds fine but one wonders when something for the real men will arrive in shops: caliber-16K 85" LCDs.

What does that mean? Like a slap in the face, I can't believe I got charged that much to get it deal, or a slap in the face, unbelievably good-priced deal? I'm guessing with three smiley faces it must be a good price.

The 70" Sharp has settings that allow you to get a standard color gamut making the yellow sub-pixel issue moot. Check out Chad B's review in the owner's thread.

When is the 70LE935U going to release? I really need to order a TV now but want this screen instead of the current non 3d sharp 70. If it is August I might be able to wait but right before Christmas is a no go. I can go larger but not smaller and the pq on the miti screens is not good to me and the price on the samsung and LG is really too much I think so I find myself in a pickle.

That's exactly what I'm waiting on as well. So far no info on a release date, and all we know is that it will be available this year. But that could be anytime. I hope it becomes available by August. Since the 70LE935U is Sharp's flagship 70 inch TV, I hope it does everything I've been dreaming it will. And hopefully with none of the issues that their entry 70"(LC-70LE732U ) is having (motion blur, screen uniformity, dark corners, clouding, stuck pixels,etc.).

Now if the LG gets released here in the states for say $7.5k, then I may have a tougher time deciding on which TV to go with.

Sharp insiders announced to FlatpanelsHD in Europe that the true flagship will be identified as a "70X5" as a follow-up to the original XS1 Flagship which was an RGB LED.

Supposedly expected to be Ultra Thin model.

Yeah I heard something about that. It "might" carry an Elite logo on it from some info I read on it. If it does I wonder if Sharp will be marketing it or will Pioneer?

I'll bet it's going to be a lot more than $6k.

Where are people getting the idea that the 732 has bad motion blur? It is no worse than any LCD I have owned. This is really saying something since the screen is so large. (I'm not using the 120hz motion enhancers either) I haven't seen any hint of ghosting either, another big plus.

Aside for the DSE (which is reducing daily) there isn't really anything for me to complain about.

Any new information on prices and release dates in Korea/EU/US of the Samsung 75D9500.

Going to South Korea soon, so wondering about maybe getting one, if the price is not killing me.

There is a rumor: June/July shows up outside Korea. Korean prices will be killing you. I wonder if the set can be seen in shops in Korea, if so instead of buying try to see what is the PQ in critical conditions (banding).

Very impressive specs on the TV, but even at $11,697 that is way too expensive! I don't think Samsung will be selling very many of them.

If Samsung had priced the TV in the $8k-$9k range that would be a lot more realistic.

Try more like 6 to 7k. It would be a 6k premium over the C8000 for 10 extra inches
