Anyways, ordered some cables from monoprice that came yesterday. [fast]
HDMI for blue ray, component for Wii and digital audio from AVR to TV
I was changing my blu-ray from component [all I had start to begin] to HDMI.
TV is Sony XBR52HX909.
The red plug of this cable @ the TV was very snug and proceeded to take the RCA shield OFF with the *&#%$@#*?!!! cable.
Funny, it went on normally. And I was being gentle.
Also to point out, this same cable has been on a few different things.
[1 VCR, 1 DVD, and my AVR] Which also made me realize the outlets seem
much more fragile than my older A/V stuff.

[by shield, I mean the circular chrome piece on the component jack of TV]

Now, how in the hell do I get that thing back in? It has 2 lil' fangs at the base
and looking into the jack area I cannot tell which position it was clocked in!
[I see no apparent evidence of solder, looks like a light crimp fit?]
ARGH!!! This was the port [component 1] I was intending to hook my Wii into. Now it is Blue and Green only.
[I see no apparent evidence of solder, looks like a light crimp fit?]

Any suggestions? I am mulling over calling Sony since it is still under warranty.
I'm not afraid to go inside, but not if it voids any warranty, which I'm sure it would. Sigh.

I think calling Sony would really be your best bet. While this would likely be an easy enough fix, voiding the warranty just isn't worth it.

Have you tried using the component video with the shielding missing? I'm guessing that the three cables share a common ground so it might still work.

Okay, I got the shield back in, after looking VERY closely I was able to ascertain the position of the 'fangs/tangs' on the shield [12/6] and it [i]appears[i] to be seated fully. I reconnected the component cable but no dice. Still no red coming through. Time to call Sony, as was said, it has 18 months on it. Hopefully the person who shows up has the proper training

It certainly seems like an easy fix, looks like the entire back panel will have to come off. I would've expected the area around all the jacks to be removable seperately, but probably made as 1 piece to keep people from getting zapped daily.

Again, sigh.

***About the pics, it looks completely normal to the eye now, so I skipped it.
