So at first I was skeptical, but once the movie started the places I thought crosstalk would be (around all the lighting in dark zones or dark objects and light backgrounds) there was none. thanks for the suggestion, I was very happy with that purchase!!

All your feedback and videos have been greatly appreciated. How is the contrast in your opinion? Is there a lot of depth to the picture(in 2D). A lot of owners of last years xbr 909s said it had a very plasma like look to it. Which generally is regarded as a very natural picture. What is your impression so far of the over all PQ? Once again, thanks for all your feedback.

I have a feeling by the time you are finished answering everyone's questions you're going to need a vacation!

I was wondering if you might do a uniformity test of your calibrated 909, similar to that carried out by Rx74ray, and post a side by side comparison to his image just so we can get an idea of the improvement in uniformity!

I know it must be a pain but the work you're doing on this thread is appreciated by all of us that are on the Market for this TV!

Keep up the good work!

here are the attached photos. had to change settings in photo mode as close to the ones I have for my general and the LED Dynamic Control was the big difference in making it black on the outside there. easy fix! I am actually have a good time working on all this it keeps me busy during the day because I work a split shift, which is a pain.

and if you are wondering about the green lines on the first pic, I can assure you it is white like the second one. a new camera is on my wishlist now...

Hey Nick

Did the Tv come with the 3d glasses? I have may have missed someone confirming. I see people posting about other sony tv's that said came with glasses but didn't in this years model line.

so is the LED Dynamic Control off by default in photo view screen?
Did you have to manually turn it on?

yes the LED Dynamic Control is off by default in the photo mode, and I did have to manually turn it on in the settings.

Did the store have the TV in photo mode? I would assume it must of been on "vivid".

If you just have an HDMI cable in HDMI1/DVI and label the input as PC it will switch to PC mode even if you don't actually have a PC connected. Then you can see if the local dimming option is grayed out, then unlabel the input again to go back to your old settings.

This is for the exact reason you noticed when using non PC modes. In order to display a PC signal in perfect clarity the TV needs to shut off all of that advanced processing. That advanced processing is also likely to introduce lag which would be very annoying when navigating that screen with a mouse. Instant reactions are expected when using a computer mouse.

I understand that is their reasoning, but on my D8000 if I enabled in game mode it results in the exact amount of input lag as PC mode. Game mode still has local dimming enabled, while PC mode grays it out. If local dimming caused that much input lag, they'd disable it in game mode too (I'd think).

I saw it in one of the Sony Style stores in a mall here in Canada. It was surprising, there were a lot of new products on show case that aren't even released in US, including several of the new 2011 models.

They were displaying 3D content using the 2010 3D glasses and there didn't appear to be any crosstalk from what I saw. I was able to see the back-lit local dimming in action because of the 3D mode.

Did you see the hx820 or the nx720? Not much info on the hx820. Was thinking getting it in 55in, vs the xbr 46in. Sence can find it in stock.

Thanks for all your help. 2 questions...

1. How is the reflections/glare? I have a pretty bright room and windows behind me while watching the television. I had the 909 and it handled the reflection/glare well. How does this one do? Is it glossy, can you see your reflections in a dark scene?\\

2. Are you using the 2010 (tdg-br100) or 2011 3d glasses (tdg-br200)?

Thanks again for all your doing. Waiting on mine from ABT

I believe the 2011 200 series glasses are for kids the 250 series are for adults, and does anyone know besides bein lighter and more comfortable if the new 2011 glasses are supposed to be better for thee 3d

You are correct about the 200 and 250 model. I actually ordered the 250 from Amazon, although I probably won't get them until the end of month. This is fine since my tv won't come till then anyway. I can hardly wait

1.reflections/glare is not much different from the 909 from what I can tell. It looks semi-glossy, if the scene is really dark and it is very bright in the room you may notice your reflection slightly.

2. I am currently using the 2010 BR-100, but plan on getting at least one 2011 BR-250. the BR-250 is rechargeable and is lighter and more comfortable apparently and have yet to test to see if 3D looks better or worse with them.

Thanks Nick. I have the 909 and the reflections were fine on it and not a distraction. I bought the lx9500 and the reflections/glare on that were horrible. I hope that they have the 929 like the 909 for the reflection/glare.

big concern of mine as well, and almost emough to tip me over to plasma at this point. LG ruined their new line by going away from matte screens, and Sony had gone the reflective glass as well, it appears. supposedly samsung has improved their anti-reflective coating on plasma screens to the point where the D8000/7000 line in plasma is *less* reflective than the equivalent LCD/LED line. how do posters feel the 929 compares in reflectivity to matte displays like EX700?

My 55" HX92 (as it's called on the box) just arrived today at noon. Fedex used a semi to deliver it! It's been sitting in my dining room all day. I just don't have the energy to try and get that sucker on the wall (and take down my 52" XBR3). I've got buddies coming over tomorrow to help me with it....mostly the XBR3 as it weighs twice as much. Looking forward to messing with it but it will be sad to see the XBR3 go....
