quick question bro.. i know everyone is asking tons of questions but i saw your youtube video on the contrast black/whites and where the blacks really THAT black?

I really couldn't tell where your tv's edges were.

My old samsung has this purple effect even when is totally black..

Is the contrast that good or did your camera didn't capture the contrast as well as it should've?

Thanks man

Anyone could confirm that?

In Eastern Europe KDL-55HX920 will be only on June.

Is there any confirmation Sony will release 65" HX92x in EUrope?

In Europe xbr was X - X2000, X3500(sim. as xbr4/5), X4500(sim. as xbr8).
The X5500 was announced but never made it.
X transformed into HX since the xbr HX909.

The blacks are really that dark!! I know it seems surprising. Almost plasma-like with this set.

:-/

As long as it comes before the end of may i guess i can deal with it.
I have been hearing best case senario is late May, but if Sony is selling these like crazy that date could push. Sony is smart enough to realize if theres enough demand they can sell direct and ensure the MSRP for maximum profit.

It sucks, because you know they can sell the display for far less and still net a profit. Also, the value of consumer electronics depreciate so quickly you typically wait 6 months and get the item for almost half price.

The blacks on the HX909 are impressive it's just the clouding that takes away from the effect. I'm excited to hear they may have addressed the clouding while keeping the incredible black levels!

I don't think either of the sets are anywhere near as bad as the D8000 in the clouding department.

I'm very pleased with the PQ of the HX909 and the clouding is not bad unless you are sitting off angle. I'm just excited to hear the HX929 has improved this issue while keeping the deep black levels. The HX909 is the first display I have owned that goes completely black to the point you think the display is turned off and that's awesome IMO...

Alright! Sometime during the day today Sony changed the status of the XBR 46-HX929 to "in stock" and shipping tomorrow (5/6). That means mine should be shipping out tomorrow and sometime early next week it should be here. I am more than ready for that beauty to show up and see if it is as sweet as I am hoping that it will be.

Yea, i'm looking forward to getting rid of my D8000 and grabbing the HX929. I still have to get my D8000 returned (getting a full refund). Been trying to delay my return as much as possible until the HX929 is easier to get.

Not to mention MSRP on this thing is a little bit above what i'd like to spend. I'm hoping to get it for $3,200 or so.. but i'd go $3,400ish if it included the 2011 glasses.

If only they didn't charge tax. I just can't justify paying near-MSRP + tax when Amazon will likely have this set within a month at a lower price and zero tax. =/

the reason i am doing that here is i read the video processor in the 929 is superior to the one in my tv, i am hoping to find out here or elsewhere whether or not there is a big difference, i meant to come back and talk about that and got busy

This is a great forum to participate in, and the knowledge exchange has been very informative. I have a couple of 55's on order through my Sony dealer here in East Texas. I don't want to create a rumor, but i have been told by a Sony person that the release date for the 65" XBR (HX929) is now set for the end of June. This certainly makes perfect sense to me in that Sony needs a larger set out soon to be competitive with the other manufacturers producing their larger units.
Of course, we all know how dates can change, but hopefully this will end up being fairly accurate.

I purchased my TV from my local sony store on April 19th and I still dont have my tv yet.

For some reason they are only getting 3 of the 929s in 55inches. I swear if I didnt love sony so much I would have gotten my money back. But in my mind the 929 is worth the wait.

They still dont know when they are getting the TVs. Everyday I call I've been told "its coming tomorrow or next week" and the excuses are getting old.

I was told that they are just having trouble getting the TVs from their local warehouse. I just want my damn TV.

Any 55 owners here from Massachusetts?

I'm trying really hard to justify $3800 dollars for the 55" version of this set. I know it's Sony's high end but anymore than $3k for a 55" TV is steep these days. Just and fyi I only paid $2699 for the 55D8000 but it's junk.

That "mystery tv" has got to be the HX92. I was staring at the picture and it looks the same as my 55". Plus the viewing angle is ridiculous. I sat and watched the Indians beat the A's earlier today at the extreme left side of the set and had no problem seeing the picture and reading any text. The blacks are really dark and this is without me changing any settings at all. I think once this tv is calibrated it will look crazy good.

By the way...watching any sporting event on this tv is unreal. I wish I had the tech savvy to explain my comments better but you really need to see the picture on this set to really appreciate it. I'm beat from a long few days away from home for work but I may throw on my first blu-ray and check it out. Crazy good is what I'm expecting.

My "Sony Style" here in Toronto had the 55" on display and in stock. $3999 is just too steep IMO.

Is that what the 909 was originally priced at? Wow.

Well if you are refering to sonystyle retail stores i have no idea not if you are not refering to sonystyle retail stores, i assume people are buying online because the regular bestbuy type stores doo not have this television in at this time

For the Aussies out there reading all of this (like me) I\\ve emailed and called Sony and they said the HX925 model here is the equivalent to the American HX929. They have no information about when it will be released, the lady just said May-September this year...lol. Damn Australia being so far behind.

http://www.sony.com.au/product/kdl-55hx925

Includes Skype camera and 2x 3D Glasses.

RRP $4499

P.S Australian release has Motionflow XR 800 and the US version has Motionflow XR 960.
Can somebody please explain to me what the difference is and whether it will be a noticeable difference?
Thanks!
