I'm so upset, and i feel like an idiot. I spent $1000 on a 42LW6500 and the input lag is so bad i dont even want to game on it anymore.
I'm pretty sure they wont return it =[ But if i'm to have a good chance of getting something else i need to choose another TV.

Im not too fussy about 3D, i just want good input lag, and 1080P

Not sure how the LW6500 differs but in case you haven't tried you should try the following .

1. goto the LG 42LW6500 support page and see if your firmware is the latest. Sometimes you need to install via USB drive.

2. set the input label for the HDMI port to 'PC'.

3. make sure you set AV mode to 'Game'.

4. possibly try on HDMI3

The latest LW5600 firmware only available on the website currently greatly improved lag for others.

Good luck!

I had the opportunity to get the 47LW5300 OR 47LW5600 for the same price, I bought the 47LW5600.

I bought the 47LW5600 for 5 main reasons:

The TV has gotten really good reviews pretty much everywhere.

This TV has an IPS panel which the 47LW5300 does not.

This TV has the Smart Features, which the 47LW5300 doesn't even have basic VODs.

This TV has the mouse pointer (majic motion) remote, the 47LW5600 doesn't.

The Blu-ray player that comes with the 47LW5600 is very very low end. I bought the LG BD670 for under $150. I estimated the player that came with the 47LW5300 to be worth about $80 as for $110, the BD650 can be had.

Even for $200 more, I feel the 47LW5600 was worth it just to have the IPS panel with the great off center viewing. I absolutely hate standard LCD TVs because of their lousy off center picture. That's why I tried Plasma first but then found out these IPS panel TVs are even better.

I just wanted to thank everybody for the recent ST30 vs LW5600/6500 feedback. Even though the purist in me was leaning toward the plasma, I decided to give the 55 LG a try instead. In the end, I think part of my reasoning was that since this isn't my main home theater room, and since it's a rather bright living room, I might actually benefit from the extra brightness of the LG. I also took into consideration the fact that with the ST30, I'd essentially be giving up 3D for the time being since I wouldn't be paying the extra money for glasses for a while. Even though I personally still consider 3D to be more of a "gimmick" at this time (just my personal reaction), I'd still like to be able to mess with it a bit, which the LG would allow.

Another thing that struck me was that I'm rather curious about trying an LCD, which I havn't done yet. I may end up changing my mind, but I have to start somewhere. So far, it strikes me that I have the set fairly bright in this room (a point in it's favor), but I also find that the blotchy blacks in certain situations (single white credit on black screen) are pretty annoying. I'll see if the LG's shortcomings outweigh it's strengths for me.

Thanks again,

Larry

I think you'll be impressed with the LED over the Plasma in all situations. The problem most have, myself included, is that you don't realize it until you have owned both, a current selling LED LCD and a Plasma.

My friend and I, picked out the 50ST30 for him, being at the time I still had a SD CRT TV and fell for the Plasma hype. It was a very good set for sure, but a lower end set compared to the LG 47LW5600 also. They both have their problems in performance areas as nothing is perfect, but they are both good sets. He has less windows in his TV area so the Plasma will do good.

Enjoy

Good deal, did you get the 5600 or 6500? I know you posted you were interested in both and I was curious which one won out.

Bought my 55LW5600 online from USAppliance. Totally painless. No tax; free shipping and $1249. Plus, they have the same return/price match as Amazon.

Best Buy(on-line) is where I got my 55LW6500.

Free delivery, set-up. They connect basics and test for operation.

They take the box and will even take the old TV if you want, no charge.

Other stores charge $100 - $150 for this "White Glove" service.

This is great for us Seniors ! No worries.

Thank's,

COMPUTIAC

On amazon.com (shipped from vans, its $999 delivered).. i dont mind waiting that delivery time to save over $100.

Well I purchased my 55LW5600 last night at Fry's. I had pretty much decided to get the 55LW5700 at Costco which was on sale for $1299.99 and get a remote that would allow me to enable the features through the service menu. When I saw the 5600 for the same price with those features not being disabled and also coming with the Magic Motion remote it was an easy choice.

I will be setting it up over the weekend, today I plan to go through this thread as I need to gather up some settings and tweaks that I have been reading about. I wish there was a list of "Things New Owners should do" but I guess I will have to just browse the forum and make some notes.

Things I have already on my list

1. Get info about latest firmware and download it. I recall it needing to be installed through USB for some reason.
2. Get some user settings for best picture
3. I will be hooking up my XBOX 360, I think there is some specific information on which HDMI to use and settings for best performance for it
4. I have the Sony HT-CT550W sound bar that I am currently running everything through its receiver. I need to determine if this is still the best configuration. It has ARC on it and I know this TV does as well, so I think that will still be the case.

Is there any other "Best Practices" that I should be aware of?

Thanks

Vann's via Amazon ftw. Paid $1330 SHIPPED for the 55lw5600. As stated, they retain Amazon's return policy. The Fed Ex freight arranged a 4 hr delivery window for me on the day of my choice as well. No tax and free shipping made it awesome. And the 5 year LG warranty was only $179, no tax. LG comes to your home if a repair needs to be made. Also, Costco isn't such a great deal because you pay taxes on the FULL price before their in store rebates. Screw that.

On a side note, I connected my xbox360 to my Visio vht215 via hdmi1 and there was no lag using that port. Just a heads up.

For clarification, the visio soundbar connects to the ARC supported hdmi1 port. The soundbar accepts two hdmi devices (and has 3d audio pass through). So you can toggle between OTA and your two hdmi devices while only taking up hdmi1 on the TV.

I'm very close at persuading the wife to purchase the LG 47LW5600! I've heard phenomonal things about this TV from both critic and consumers. Will be stopping by best buy tomorrow to see if I could demo it.

Plus, my current LG TV has issues sometimes turning on. The red LED light will turn green - but no picture comes on. Probably a sign of it on its way out, so just in time!

I just purchased the 47lw5600 about three weeks ago. I am very happy with the tv. It blows away the 52 quattron that I returned. I still haven't hooked up my bluray player but apple tv works great on the tv. I got a hell of a deal on the tv. I took an ad from tiger direct to hhgregg since they price match. It was for the 47lw5300 with a lower end 3d bluray player and 4 glasses for $850.They came back with an offer for the 47lw5600 and an upgraded 3d bluray player and 10 pairs of glasses for the $850. Im going to start reading up on the forums for a good calibration now thanks everyone for the helpful info on here.

Don't forget the remote hack to get into the service menu and enable THX settings and DD pass through. Do a search for hack in this thread and the link with instructions will pop up. You may need to buy another remote though unless you have an universal one hanging around.

Good luck and enjoy!

That was a superb deal. Did you actually take in an ad or did / can they price match on line?

Might as well enable the USB DVR recording function or Time machine if you're going to access the EZ Menu.

The Time Machine only allows you to record OTA DTV programs on this TV even when the TV is turned OFF. The only downside is if you are using the TV for games or movie watching and you have a recording about to start - the TV will be "forced" to switch to the DTV channel you are recording. Cancelling it will stop the recording.

Also, I use a 1Gig Toshiba USB 3.0 HDD which I got for 80bucks during Black Friday and works with no problem!

Great deal. I bought my 47LW5600 at H.H. Greg as well, but on Black Friday. They were selling the 47LW5300 for $800. I was trying to get them to come down to $750 the day before but had to go. It was $800 for a week before and after Black Friday.

When I called on Black Friday to speak to the manager I was trying to get the better price on, I was on the phone for an hour because they kept putting me on hold, then hanging up on me. I was just a bit mad and drove over there and confronted them about their rude behavior. The manager being sorry offered me the 47LW5300 on the spot for $750 OR gave me the option to get the 47LW5600 for the same price. Didn't know how good the LW5600 so I had to do some research on it and went back the next day and bought it.

I thought I got a great deal (but because of a bad situation), but you sound like you got even a better deal. The glasses cost $10/pair so you got an additional $60 in glasses plus a minimum of $110 for a 3D blu-ray player. So you came out at only "$680" for the 47LW5600!! Awesome DEAL!

I bought my LG BD670 player at another store but it was on sale. So I got my package technically for $895 but with 4 pairs of glasses.

Good luck and enjoy!

I do want to do the hack. I did the search and a lot of posts talked about it but I didn't see a post that actually showed how to do it or had a link for it. If anyone has this or can direct me I would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Tv is on. Turned on blu ray player. Switched to HDMI port when the blu ray was still booting up and I got the pink screen.

I believe I just got this as well. The screen wasn't "solid" pink; rather, it was as if the picture was tinted very pink. In other words, you could still see the image of the ocean and fish, etc. -- everything was just tinted pink. It's how I imagine it might look if the green was turned comletely off.

Does this sound like the same issue that a couple others described here -- i.e. does this sound like an HDMI handshake issue? I've never seen anything like this before on a plasma.

Just to note, this was with an Oppo BDP-93.

Thanks,

Larry

It was for the 47lw5300 with a lower end 3d bluray player and 4 glasses for $850.They came back with an offer for the 47lw5600 and an upgraded 3d bluray player and 10 pairs of glasses for the $850. Im going to start reading up on the forums for a good calibration now thanks everyone for the helpful info on here.
