My TV is doing something really strange.
When I plug it in, it turns on and the volume automatically goes all the way up and stays there.

It appears that the volume and channel buttons are out of wack and the volume + button is held down automatically

I had the TV unplugged for 2 days this past weekend, when I came home and plugged it in, that is what happened.

Not too serious, just get it serviced

Out of curiosity, why did you unplug it for 2 days? I prefer battery backup for my gear.

we left the house for the weekend and I unplug everything that isn't being used. I usually keep it on a monster HDP 1800 just in case.

Getting it serviced is the next step, I was hoping maybe there's something I did that could be undone before I have to break out the check book

Did you register it on the Samsung site? They sometimes give you 3 more months warranty.

Murcie..... is correct. Register your tv at Samsung's site and they extend the warranty to 15 months. So register it, then call them for warranty service.

Their registeration site is at the link:

It's like the Volume +
button is being held down, so none of the other buttons will respond except volume -

update: Looks like Samsung doesn't want to honor the 3 month extension on the warranty. I got an email saying it was extended but when I go to request service it shows my warranty status as "out of warranty".

When I inquired as to why it isn't showing up (via live support chat) the guy said I needed to register the product within 11 months of the original warranty

So just being defiant, I asked him to show or tell me where it says that

When he finally answered he said that if I got an email saying it's extended then it's extended. And so it begins, the cat and mouse game of trying to get them to honor their word and them doing everything they can to worm out of it

Call back and request Executive Customer Service, the next step up, most get much better customer service from them, the first line people just try to make you go away.

Update:
For those interested, Samsung just got a customer for life!!!

I finally got in touch with Samsung and they set me up with a service center to come out and repair the TV. I was out of town working during the last 2 months of the extended warranty so I couldn't set up a time for the repair man to come out and work on the TV. I had given up on getting it repaired through the warranty and figured I'd pay whatever was needed to get it repaired, on the last day of the warranty a nice lady from Samsung called and asked if the TV was repaired yet. I explained to her why it couldn't be fixed and she said they will just replace it.

I almost jumped out of my skin!! Not only will it be replaced with a new set but an upgraded current year model at that!!

Thank you guys for all your help as well, time to go mess around with my new 3D tv
