I have a Sony KDL-60NX720 that I got on 7/8/2011. Recently the screen went blank and the red light on lower left hand corner blinks 4 times in a repeating pattern. After researching the problem I contacted Sony and they told me I should call Sears for a service call. Sears charged me $149 to diagnose the problem which would be applied to repair. The technician managed to get a picture of the screen which briefly comes up after unplugging the unit and powering back up. His diagnosis of the problem is a bad panel as evidenced by a shadow on the lower part of the screen. He said Sony offers no part replacement for this bad panel.
I recontacted Sony after that by email and then again by phone today. The phone conversation was with someone who had a heavy accent and it was difficult to clearly communicate. They indicate there is nothing they can due including no offer of any discount on a new TV to replace the now defunct KDL-60NX720 I have. My guess is the problem is a bad led light or lights internal to the panel that could likely be repaired assuming someone had the right parts, skills, tools, and knowledge. I don't have these so I'm left with a useless large TV.
Anyone know of any special contact at Sony, such as a customer relations group, that might be more willing to help? Contacting Sony support and trying communicate with people in India or wherever has not helped.
