A large part that contribute to the inflation is taxes (also taking into account; a greater understanding behind the costs of products and services within a company, transportation costs, duty fees, and revenue taxes/margin).
Also, Canada's population is obviously not nearly as large as US, and our economies of scale are different - meaning that Canada's smaller population doesn't give retailers the same kind of buying power as they do down in the states.

We have to agree that the standard of living in Canada is higher and different than in US. Generally speaking, Canadians get paid much more, as with higher minimum wages and better benefits.
Then another thing is since Canada is a bilingual country, under law all products have to be sold in both English and French which add to manufacturing costs (even $0.05 would make a huge impact).

Otherwise, even though our dollar may be in par give or take, doesn't necessarily mean that every products MUST be sold comparatively to the US market. Given the circumstances, we Canadians are just accustomed to paying so much more. It's just how it is. . .

But what about Hockey

Can anyone comment on the crosstalk? I've heard in 2011 Sony reduced the crosstalk from a review, but they didn't mention by how much.

I received my 60NX720 yesterday from Sony to replace my 60XBR2. Live in Pennsylvania, TV shipped from California.

Still sitting in the box. Contemplating whether to sell it and buy a front projector, or just use it. Would like to see it running in a store or something as most LED LCDs are just not to my liking, soap opera effect and what not.

From what little I have watched mine, the SOE is not as dominant as I have seen on other sets.

I had a chance to look at the NX720 and it is gorgeous, the picture blew me away, now I am a fan of plasma like the Panasonic VT30 which I consider the new reference, but this new Sony is awesome, great for a bright living room..

I got mine this week also. I have to say, that I really think the picture looks great. I am super impressed with picture in 2D. Have not tried 3D yet. I am with the above poster about the flash lighting. When the screen is just dead with no input (between menu screens etc.) there is noticeable flash lighting, however, it basically disappears when there is picture, even if the picture is dark or black. The only minor complaint that I have is that the viewing angle is definitely less than my XBR2. I notice that the picture and the blacks are beautiful when looking straight on, but if I move to the side of my living room, the blacks start to fade. My overall impression at this point is very favorable though.

Just curious, was this in a completely dark room, in low light, or in daylight?

At approximately what angle do the blacks start to fade?

I will have a new one installed in my bedroom soon with a Panasonic sound bar...

I notice one person had a problem getting the internet to connect, anyone else have issues with that?

Is this the thread where the calibration/picture tweaking settings people will use and recommend will be?

Completely dark room is when I was playing around with it.

I don't know the exact angle, but if your sitting in front of the TV and that is your 90 degree starting point. I would say that moving away about 30 - 40 degrees from that 90 degree mark is when the blacks begin to fade.

I have the same question that was posted earlier but I am not sure that it was answered.

I was offered the 60NX810 about five weeks ago as an exchange for my defective SXRD. As it has been well over the quoted three weeks delivery time, I called to check the status. I was told that I could continue to wait for the 810 (shipping date unknown) or move forward with a 2011 NX720 for the same price. After much research, I really can't discern if there is much of a difference other than

1) the 810 is heavier
2) the 810 seems to be more expensive

Does anybody have any information regarding these two sets? Numerically, it would be easy to assume that the 810 is the superior set but I am not sure that this is the case.

Any help would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Take the NX720 but give them much less money....the 810 was a $1000 more retail than the 720....the new 720 has 1 piece of Gorilla glass...which is nice

Finally hooked up my 60NX720.

It's beautiful!

Always hate the look of flat panel LCDs, but after some tweaking this thing is amazing.

Basically I turned off every noise, motion , etc. Except cinemotion. Turned up backlight to 9, turned sharpness down a bit.
Factory setting were HORRIBLE. Thing was sooo grainy I was about to unhook it and hook my XBR2 back up.

But now it is looking gorgeous. Still needs some tweaking. Tomorrow I will run some test patterns and dial it in a bit more.

Thanks Overboosted, that is encouraging, I have my 60NX720 since 2 weeks and i really have a hard time setting it up. BluRay looks fantastic but satellite TV input is not even close to my SXRB. If you have a chance to share your setting when completed, that would give me something to start with.

I notice it when its very near completely dark. Again, in my opinion, at least right now, it is not a problem. When there is a picture on the screen (even a dark scene) its virtually unnoticeable unless you stare really hard at it. I am very happy with the TV, my only slight issue, as as stated before is the viewing angle. I have a big living room and while sitting way off to the side, the blacks do fade a little bit. Again, its not horrible, but I do notice it. My XBR2 never had this problem. Although, my XBR2 never did blacks as well as this tv does when sitting in front of it either. I guess everything is a trade off.

Well, I hopefully will soon be the owner of a 55NX720. I was offered a 55EX720 as a replacemnt for my XBR1 suffering form the green tint for the second time in its realtively short life (I love the XBR1 when it is right, PQ is outstanding). The 55EX720 has been out of stock for a while so I upgraded to the 55NX720 today. I hope I like it. Price was right.

Congrats....
i had the A2000 and this thing looks awesome. After fiddling with some of the settings (by NO means calibrated) the pic is very sweet. It also looks really good when it is turned off. As far as the 3D goes?????

Was hoping it would be real good for netflix also...web stuff
