Need some opinions please, Ive had the 55" for five days, I've done all the calibrating I can take, the clouding, blurring and overall contrast of this television are not at a 2600 dollar level, my wife is rather irritated with the blurring and lack of detail in darker scenes.
We purchased this primarily to use for streaming content, I've used wireless and ethernet and always select HD content but still seem to be suffering with these "minor" imperfections that stand out in a resounding way on a large screen, the blurring especially has my eyes straining and head hurting, good thing im not a sports enthusiast, but the martial arts movies look like dog doo, as well as any quick pans the camera makes on internet video or blu-ray. I've been kicking myself in the ass for not going with the hx820 thinking the x-reality engine would be enough, but I'm not sure it is.
What are the chances Sony will let me swap and pay the difference for the upgraded model? Is the clouding considered a defect? Sony's tech support and other staff don't seem to be familiar with the terms clouding or flashlighting, which both interfere with my enjoyment of such a pricey item. As far as I'm concerned is like buying a new car with crappy paint job or torn seats. I spent way too long on the phone with their tech support, or should I say human search engine for their network database, with no real results. I don't wanna say screw it, pay for the return shipping and get a 55vt30, but I'm close. Anyone have any previous experience with Sony returns or exchanges? Any suggestions as the best possible approach? Any insight would be much appreciated and utilized to the fullest potential. Like I said its only been five days. I suppose this is what i get for buying something that wasn't available in my state for viewing before purchase as well as no reviews professional or personal. That'll teach me.
